Good luck to Dixie the rest of the season whataboutthis and enjoy the drive to Ashland and hopefully you will get another shot at HHS the week after that game!

I really try to understand why you make the comments that you do.

For the second time why is wishing a team good luck, being mean?

I meant it that I hope they get another chance at HHS. That would mean that they beat Ashland!

I hope Dixie beats Ashland, heck I hope ever NKy team who plays a team out of our area wins the week after next!

Man tough crowd!

Wishing a team good luck is being mean?

Nah, wishing Highlands on them is mean. :ylsuper:

This makes no sense. That would be like talking about a defensive pass interference when a guy is beat. Would you consider that a stupid rule? Just not to let the kid score. The horse collar rule is simply a safety rule that has trickled down from the NFL to all levels>

The horse collar rule in High school is different than the NFL. In high school if you pull someone down from behind who is not engaged with someone else it is a horse collar.

DPI and OPI need changed on the High School level it is not a harsh enough for DPI and to harsh for OPI.

You can't do that, just as you can't pick up a flag on a penalty that was well behind a TD, just because it had nothing to do with the TD

I understand him being upset, but that is why there is no penalty for the first one.

Everybody on the Dixie side seems to be upset at the cameraman, but who was the flag on the first time and why weren't the Dixie coaches watching for it again, as they had to understand the rule!

That is what I would like to know?

I've talked to alot of Dixie people and I don't know one who is mad at the camera person. They (media) are trying to promote high school sports, not become the victim of a ridiculous call. The timing of the flag was very very questionable.

I am certain it is too late in the season to add you "online officials" to any crews this season, there is always next year to think about. Send away to the KHSAA, get your rule books and read up on them. Next season, after you have read up on all those rules you will be ready to officiate a game or two...

Then maybe the kids from northern Kentucky can have the absolute best referees available. I've got to tell ya though, it is not as much fun as bashing them on BGP is.

My son plays for Dixie and played his tail off during the game. After the game, his first comment was "Why do the refs hate us?"

He wasn't being nasty about it or beligerant - just looked like he was numb. Pretty sad that a kid felt that way immediately after a well fought, great game - that the officials had that much game changing impact....

The "right" thing for the ref to do after the penalty where he ran into the camera man would have been to pick up the flag and waive off the penalty. If the ref was that upset about what happened then throw the camera man off the field - it was an unintentional accident.

The majority of penalties are unintentional accidents. I do know that the sideline infraction was an area that was supposed to be strictly enforced this year. Most teams have a coach during the game 'roaming' the sidelines making sure everyone stays back.

While this call obviously had an impact on the game, it wasn't the only call that impacted the game. I would offer that all calls have some impact on the game, some more than others. If I had already been warned once on the sideline, I think I would of made sure everyone, and I mean everyone was way behind the line the rest of the game.

I say the official should be banned from football and have to ref soccer games. Where he can be nice and safe. Besides he isn't very good at football. Besides a good official would have said coach back them up on the 3rd play not thrown a flag. This guy is scared, in 2 games he did that I have seen he has called 3 sideline warnings. In 18 other games I have seen this year I have seen 1 other sideline warning. He should focus on the field and not the sideline because a blocker could tackle someone in front of him and he wouldn't call it.

How do you know he didn't say 'back them up'? I'm better he said it more than once.

If you are scared of getting hurt on a footbal field, be it a player, coach, official, or media person you should not go out there. Football is a violent game and anyone scared does not belong on the field.

WHAT? You are silly!

The players are playing the game and are use to the contact. The coaches are watching the game and see things coming. An official is watching their keys, looking for penalities and side steping down the field. If they happen to get blind sided by someone (coach, cameraman, water boy) on the sidelines and they don't see it coming has nothing to do with being scared.

Since when?

Don't take it personally. You're probably a good official.

Since when?

Since the beginning of sports. If your team is intentionally committing penalties then I would say they deserve to lose!

I dont know how any fan of CCH, Dixie, or high school football in general could agree with this call. They could throw a sideline flag for every single play of the game if they wanted to - just like they could probably throw a flag for holding on every single offensive play. But honestly, I cannot remember one time this year where I have seen a flag thrown for holding. Refs do not call holding anymore.

I am not saying defend the ref. I am saying take responsibility. Dixie was warned and apparently did nothing about it. They paid the price.

Maintaining control on the sideline is the ultimate responsibility of the head coach. If the head coach is busy coaching his team, the AD/game management will usually take care of clearing the sideline of non-football related personnel. That’s kind of hard to do when the head football coach is also the AD.

Since when?

I know when I played football, I never came out of the huddle thinking, "Hey, I know what...I'm gonna go offside this play".

The majority of penalties are incurred by accident.
