So the only place to get a good picture is on the sideline? Whatever. I guess maybe the individual should be banned. Perhaps the media should consider it a privilege and not their right to be allowed access to these teams and venues. Believe it or not, you need them more than they need you.

Are you also going to ban whoever it was on the Dixie staff/team that got the warning on the 3rd play of the game? If not for that the TD would have stood and that would have been the warning. What's fair is fair, right???

I think that some of ya'll have to think about the officials in situations like this. I would think that it wouldn't be much fun to be watching the action on the field, while side stepping down the sidelines and get blind-sided by a coach, or even worse, a camera lens.

If you are scared of getting hurt on a footbal field, be it a player, coach, official, or media person you should not go out there. Football is a violent game and anyone scared does not belong on the field.

I say the official should be banned from football and have to ref soccer games. Where he can be nice and safe. Besides he isn't very good at football. Besides a good official would have said coach back them up on the 3rd play not thrown a flag. This guy is scared, in 2 games he did that I have seen he has called 3 sideline warnings. In 18 other games I have seen this year I have seen 1 other sideline warning. He should focus on the field and not the sideline because a blocker could tackle someone in front of him and he wouldn't call it.

Insert wisecrack about both teams defensive performance (here)...

Hey toolman, the offer is still open. Since it sounds like you know so much about the NFHS Rules, why don't you join the local association? Matter of fact the NKYFL playoffs begin today want to work 4 games?

He/She might show up and be one of the best officials out there.:D

So the horse collar, clipping, chop blocks, blows to the helmet, spearing, face mask and many other penalties that were installed for the safety of the players shouldn't be there?

The sideline penalty was installed to protect the men in stripes as without them, there wouldn't be a game!

So were they all against Dixie?

I didn't say anything about the rule, I said If you are scared to get hurt you shouldn't go out there I would say the same about a player.

But I think the Horse collar rule ( at least the high school version) is stupid. The 2 times(one on Cov. Cath. ,one on Dixie) it was called Friday what was the kid to do let the kid score or tackle them from behind.

No. 1 on Beechwood and 2 friday night.

Good luck to Dixie the rest of the season whataboutthis and enjoy the drive to Ashland and hopefully you will get another shot at HHS the week after that game!

My son plays for Dixie and played his tail off during the game. After the game, his first comment was "Why do the refs hate us?"

He wasn't being nasty about it or beligerant - just looked like he was numb. Pretty sad that a kid felt that way immediately after a well fought, great game - that the officials had that much game changing impact....

The "right" thing for the ref to do after the penalty where he ran into the camera man would have been to pick up the flag and waive off the penalty. If the ref was that upset about what happened then throw the camera man off the field - it was an unintentional accident.

This makes no sense. That would be like talking about a defensive pass interference when a guy is beat. Would you consider that a stupid rule? Just not to let the kid score. The horse collar rule is simply a safety rule that has trickled down from the NFL to all levels>

You can't do that, just as you can't pick up a flag on a penalty that was well behind a TD, just because it had nothing to do with the TD

I understand him being upset, but that is why there is no penalty for the first one.

Everybody on the Dixie side seems to be upset at the cameraman, but who was the flag on the first time and why weren't the Dixie coaches watching for it again, as they had to understand the rule!

That is what I would like to know?

Wow, that's mean. :D
