CovCath had two TD's called back in the 1st round Frosh playoff game just last week due to penalties and had 1 TD called back in a JV game against HHS a week or two ago. It happens and yes I would be upset but not at the men in stripes.

I umpired baseball games way back when and I had zero problems with the kids or even with the coaches, but the parents......:ohbrother:

I bet those pentalies occured on the field not on some random camera man.

If he didn't throw the flag would anyone have even known that a person taking pictures was in his way 35 yards behind the ball? Holds, blocks in the back, things that occur where the PLAYERS are impacted are different than this situation.

This guy was bad. He called a late hit on Cov. Cath and all the guy did was put his hand on the guys shoulder when he was out of bounds. This official wanted people to know he was there tonight, and he made himself very known. So I guess he got his wish.

Hey, good job Erpenbeck! There you go ColonelCrazy. Maybe player of the week, even the Dixie fans MIGHT vote. Hey, even you guys were irritated with the officiating last Saturday, right? :idunno:
They should have been happy with the officiating last week, they didn't have a penalty called against them.:isurrender:

My loud mouth didn't come through too bad did it???

 I heard you, but I didn't know it was you. You could hear another crew in there with them.

That one was 12 men on the field, not a sideline infraction...

Cool. The internet guys was calling it another sideline infraction.

The officiating at every level this year has been very poor. The concerning thing here is that the officials could not get together and talk this "penalty" through. If a camera man was involved and the ref blew a call the crew should be able to get together, sort it out, and wave the flag if necessary. Referees in this area enjoy being a big part of the game.

Can you really complain about the officiating when you give up almost 500 yards to one player?

ENOUGH SAID!!!!!!!!!!!

My previous comments would be the same regardless of which sideline in the country it was called on. The officials blown call had nothing to do with Dixie's lack of defense or worse yet CovCath's lack of defense. What may have played a factor in both teams lack of defense was the fact that the officials allowed a holdfest marathon to escalate all night and the kids on both teams realized that nothing was going to be called and took advantage of it.

Holding via who??? the officals or CCH Radio???

Hey toolman, the offer is still open. Since it sounds like you know so much about the NFHS Rules, why don't you join the local association? Matter of fact the NKYFL playoffs begin today want to work 4 games?

Rule 2

Very exciting game to watch on both sides. Erpenbeck, Gray, Deglow, Connaughton made some big plays for the Blue Colonels as did Wilson, Haggerty, Pike and Smith for the Red Colonels. I would say both sides gave it their all on the field.

Regarding the referee side of things, when the ref calls the captains from both teams together after about the 2nd or 3rd series, this tells me there was some jawing or extra-curricular activites going on that they were not going to allow. As a player realize that and understand they are watching, maybe closer than normal.

Unfortunately, it looks like the weather isn't going to be good. So, I guess we can only expect 700 yards and 70 points.

Except the yardage totals were over 1,000!!

Enquirer listed Erp with 452 yards total offense. I think that's a new record. If not its either Ellison against Beechwood or Bleser against LexCath in the playoffs.

How does this (captain meeting) tie in to the thread?

How does this (captain meeting) tie in to the thread?

I would say part of and during the game. What happens during the game would be allowed to be discussed wouldn't it? Unless some type of illegal action then game on.

So what was the meeting all about? Refs just warning two teams that are playing with a lot heart and desire to win with a lot on the line! Nothing wrong there!!!!

I wasn't at the game last week, but I have no beef with the officials. The Colonels gave up a ridiculous amount of yards to the BlueBirds and couldn't move the ball on offense.

Unlike some, I look in the mirror when my team loses before pointing fingers.

I realize that giving up 600 yards of total offense to Highlands minimizes your chance at winning. I also know that giving up 400+ yards to ONE PLAYER makes it difficult to win.

I got lucky and was close on the points, but someone else called for the 1000 yards of offense.
