Covington Catholic 39 Dixie Heights 34

Really doesn't matter but just two minutes real time after the huge penalty the Dixie restricted area was littered with people again. I look forward to the replay to see exactly what happened. The photo where the ref is about to collide with the Dixie coach is exactly 7 minutes after the penalty. Point being I don't think it was about the coaches.

This is what is wrong with that call 2 teams went out and played their tails off in a big district game and we are not talking about their efforts but a call that was made.

Best of luck to both teams the rest of the way.

You are right, I know I got my 5 bucks worth.

Dixie fans on the play in question, there was also a holding penalty called on Dixie!

Listen to the CovCath Internet Radio Broadcast at around the 1 hour 20 minute mark for the play in question!

So even if the sideline interference penalty isn't called, the TD comes back via the holding penalty!

Holding via who??? the officals or CCH Radio???

If the same had happen to Cov. Cath. I bet you would sing a different song.

CovCath had two TD's called back in the 1st round Frosh playoff game just last week due to penalties and had 1 TD called back in a JV game against HHS a week or two ago. It happens and yes I would be upset but not at the men in stripes.

I umpired baseball games way back when and I had zero problems with the kids or even with the coaches, but the parents......:ohbrother:

This is not the play in question!!!

So who exactly is responsible for making sure the guys shooting video and pictures on the sidelines are out of the way of the officials? I work a lot of college games in that capacity, and there is always someone making sure I stay out of the restricted areas that could cause a penalty.

While I still don't buy that it was someone with a camera that drew the flag based on the reaction I saw from the Dixie sideline on both big plays (the warning on the early 1st Q play and the flag on the long TD), even if it was that is on Dixie to monitor any way you slice it.

"The camera guy cost us the game" argument is weak at best...

The camera guy didn't cost Dixie the game. No argument there. I take it you must be a reporter or cameraman yourself. No offense to your profession, but you guys are constantly beyond your boundaries of where you should be on the sidelines. As the Dixie reciever ran down the sideline, the ref was behind the play and ran into a cameraman, who was, along with other media people, players, etc. caught up in the moment. Before the snap, no one might have been beyond the restricted area. The official admitted after the game that he knew it was a cameraman who had gone beyond the restricted area.

Can you really complain about the officiating when you give up almost 500 yards to one player?

I am a member of the media, I do shoot video at UC games and I have in the past shot games on the high school level. I have worked right next to every photog for every news station in the city, and also know most of the rest of the media members on the sideline at every game in Greater Cincinnati. I've now talked to 6 people running a camera on the sidelines tonight, and not one of them was bumped by an official at any point in the game. If the official did run into someone with a camera, it wasn't any of the professionals I know working the game...

I agree! A holding penalty? I have the game on video, watched it numerous times, I can't see anyone holding. The only other player besides #15 for Dixie, is Pike. And the two blocks he made were pretty good hits, not holds. I didn't see any other flags away from the sideline flag. Anyhow, a good game was played tonight. Both teams deserved to win tonight. Good luck to both teams in the playoffs, hopefully a rematch in the playoffs.

Hey, good job Erpenbeck! There you go ColonelCrazy. Maybe player of the week, even the Dixie fans MIGHT vote. Hey, even you guys were irritated with the officiating last Saturday, right? :idunno:

Didnt see this one coming. I watched Cov Cath last week, and I didn't think they could have scored 39 in 4 games after last weeks offensive outing.

In there 4 game winning streak they scored 40 per game and 35 against LaSalle. No other GCL school scored more than 24 against LaSalle. Highlands defense is that good.

Not True. There was no holding call on the play just because the radio guy may have thought so. Talk to the coaches. I think the timing of the call is the most interesting part of it. The sideline infraction can be called virtually any play and the ref decided to utilize it after a 90 yard touchdown. Interesting at best.

Dixie would have had 700 yards if not for the controversial call if you want to review defenses.
