October 6, 200917 yr He wouldn't be playing Georgia every year or even that caliber of team every week in the Big East, IMO. The Run and Shoot has worked very well for Texas Tech in a much tougher conference, so I think it can work if you get the athletes that run the system. Not to be nit-picky, but doesn't Texas Tech run a suped up version of the Air Raid? They go from different formations than Mumme, but you still see the Mesh, Y-Sail, Shallow, etc. with screens mixed in. Run-and-shoot would be a similar animal but a different one as well. You'd have more of the "Choice", "Switch", half roll-outs, etc. Similar end, a bit of a different means. It doesn't matter. Air Raid, Run-&-Shoot, wishbone, etc. they can all work. It really depends on the coaching. I think that they (UofL) are going to struggle with the elite teams because of a lack of athleticism/size/depth, rather than strategy.
October 6, 200917 yr Let's just suppose for a minute that Petrino had stayed: Could he have stopped that kid from deciding an armed robbery on the way home would be a good lark? A stud. Could he have done anything about the two kids who had to quit for life-threatening reasons? Two kids who were absolute studs? Could he have stopped a kid who decided he just didn't want to play football anymore? A kid who is still enrolled on campus, but simply doesn't want to play? Another stud. Now, let's look at the obstacles Kragthorpe has faced: The above, obviously. Kragthorpe has, and has had enough talent to win football games, regardless of the things he had no control over, and he's not doing it. There has been ZERO improvement in 2 1/2 years.
October 6, 200917 yr What are the expectations for UL football? I know they were at a high point with Brohm but the stud local guys are gone. Do you all feel they should be a BCS contender? Top 25 team? Or just a bowl team? Top 25 and a bowl games should be regular occurrences.
October 7, 200917 yr Paul Finebaum out of Birmingham is hearing a lot of chatter of Tuberville to UL.
October 7, 200917 yr Paul Finebaum out of Birmingham is hearing a lot of chatter of Tuberville to UL. Not sure if anyone for UL is calling. Tubberville may be letting the UL admin. know he is interested. I for one wouldn't mine seeing him at UL.
October 7, 200917 yr While I want Kragthorpe here...if that weren't an option....my dream list would be as follows, and in order: Chris Peterson Gus Malzhan Kyle Whittingham Some names being thrown out that I have no desire for: Fulmer, Tuberville, and Jagodzinski Lastly, Gruden is not coming, so let's stop that silliness.
October 7, 200917 yr I know you are being sarcastic, but I am interested to know if you are directing the sarcasm toward my wish list. Basically, do you think the names I threw out were too far-fetched??? Or just poking fun at UK? This guy, Gus Malzahn, would probably be my number one option right now. He is going to be well sought after very soon. He only make $350,000 right now as well. That will triple in about 3 months.....haha...
October 7, 200917 yr Heard Gruden bought a house in Lake something subdivision. Not sure how reliable the source is. But he did tell me 4 months before Patino came to the Ville. He's 1-1.

I'm not trying to be mean, but I don't think U of L is on the level of a former Super Bowl winning coach. I think he might think about a job like Notre Dame, but I can't see someone like that going to a mid-level BCS school, especially one from the Big East. JMO though.

Not that I disagree with anything you say, but why "especially one from the Big East"?
October 7, 200917 yr Not that I disagree with anything you say, but why "especially one from the Big East"? Probably because it is far and away one of the weakest 2 BCS conferences year in, year out....
