RP you are correct. It's big misconception to think that UofL can't/won't be an attractive job. They pay very well. More than a lot of their rivals (UK) and other BCS schools. Heck, they're paying Kraggers 1.5 million. They will not hesitate to up that to make all this go away. The facilities are great, stadium exspansion, etc. It's the easiest path to the BCS bowls. Only competing against 7 other teams. UofL has been a good program since the mid 90's (aside from the Kragthorpe hire). Most experts view UofL as one of the top 20 programs of the 2000's. They have deep rooted recruiting base in in Florida and throughout the south and have produced numerous NFL players over the past decade.
October 20, 200916 yr Thank you both for understanding! :lol: And, the argument presented brings me to this point: With those facts in evidence, UL must recruit an up-and-coming coach. There are plenty that show promise in their current programs, but realistically, why could/should any of the expect to have any immediate success? IMO, they'll be in the same situation as Kragthorpe. Everyone's saying that we have all this great talent. But a new coach coming in will have a new system, and who's to say that the talent will fit with the system? IMO, if we get a new coach this soon, we'll have 3-4 more years of similar results. I think Kragthorpe will be perfect, and that patience and time is needed. But....I'm learning that patience is NOT a virtue of a great deal of the Louisville fanbase. The only thing they're concerned about is winning...NOW. It's not just the Louisville fan base. That's why AD is so important. If you're lucky enough to have one that won't bow to public pressure at every turn, sometimes they'll get it right. Kragthorpe at U of L reminds me a lot of Brooks at UK. The difference is that Kragthorpe took over a much better situation, so that's where a lot of the unrest originated from. However, coaching changes typically aren't seamless. Louisville would be better off giving this guy another couple of years. I truly believe coaches, especially football coaches, need 4-5 years before making an accurate judgment on them. When you start feeding the beast and head down the hire and fire road, it's sometimes difficult to break that cycle because it feeds into everyone's expectations that results should be immediate. So, it's two years and you're out if you don't produce (typically unrealistic expectations). It wouldn't surprise me either way, but I believe U of L has an AD that's willing to stand firm against public sentiment.

October 20, 200916 yr Not to be nit-picky, but doesn't Texas Tech run a suped up version of the Air Raid? They go from different formations than Mumme, but you still see the Mesh, Y-Sail, Shallow, etc. with screens mixed in. Run-and-shoot would be a similar animal but a different one as well. You'd have more of the "Choice", "Switch", half roll-outs, etc. Similar end, a bit of a different means. It doesn't matter. Air Raid, Run-&-Shoot, wishbone, etc. they can all work. It really depends on the coaching. I think that they (UofL) are going to struggle with the elite teams because of a lack of athleticism/size/depth, rather than strategy. Correct. TT is Air Raid just like UK under Mumme. Mumme/Leach/Hatcher/Franklin are the main guys coaching it with honestly Hatcher being maybe the best coach of any of them. Hatcher will get to a DI school and do well someday. June Jones' problem against Georgia was not the scheme (run and shoot). Names that could be interesting Gunter Brewer: OC for OK St Sumlin: Doing a good job at Houston Briles: The guy who was at Houston before and then left for Baylor. Strong: Would be nice but I do not see it happening. Chris Ault: Nevada There is no way Brian Kelly is would leave Cincy for another Big East school.

In a nutshell...:thumb::lol: I'm all for giving coaches a fair shot, which means more than a year or two, to get their system fully implemented. At the 5 year mark, the roster is basically all their guys and the system is in. At that point, you should have a decent idea about what you have.
