October 7, 200917 yr Probably because it is far and away one of the weakest 2 BCS conferences year in, year out.... OK...so...I'm the biggest dork in history. Don't ask me why, but for some reason I was thinking basketball...and now that I realize how disconnected my synapses are....I retract my question, and agree completely with everything in that post. :notworthy:

I just can't see a name like Gruden going for a job like that. He could get another NFL job, so I think it would have to be a really elite job for him to get into college coaches.

Thank you both for understanding! And, the argument presented brings me to this point: With those facts in evidence, UL must recruit an up-and-coming coach. There are plenty that show promise in their current programs, but realistically, why could/should any of the expect to have any immediate success? IMO, they'll be in the same situation as Kragthorpe. Everyone's saying that we have all this great talent. But a new coach coming in will have a new system, and who's to say that the talent will fit with the system? IMO, if we get a new coach this soon, we'll have 3-4 more years of similar results. I think Kragthorpe will be perfect, and that patience and time is needed. But....I'm learning that patience is NOT a virtue of a great deal of the Louisville fanbase. The only thing they're concerned about is winning...NOW.
October 8, 200917 yr He needs more time, they will be cutting their own throat by firing him. I'll be surprised if he is let go.
October 8, 200917 yr I'm not a Krag's fan. Yeah, I know it takes time, but great coaches go in and start leaving their mark instantly. Krags may be a good coach, but I think it's already a failed experiment. You have a program that was really winning, and it's gone down the drain. I say start fresh, and after some reflection, I say go get Charlie Strong. He's a Meyer guy, and Meyer is the master of the quick turn-around. Whittingham is doing well after learning under him, and really for the lack of talent at MSU Dan Mullen is doing pretty good as well.
October 8, 200917 yr Here is a name for you but what about Pat Hill. I used to say his name for every big job that comes open...apparently he is in Fresno for the long haul; it just seems like he would be a fit for a team like Louisville (BCS conference, rebuilding) but he is still at Fresno. I know he interviewed at Washington, but he didn't get it. UCLA inquired, but did not interview him, I believe, before they recycled Neuhiessel (sp.). Maybe he just doesn't interview well. :idunno:
October 8, 200917 yr I personally hope that U.L. keeps Krragthorpe and gives him a life contract. Seriously and in his defense, the man imo has had to clean up alot of Petrino's mess/thugs. He obviously cares more about recruiting and developing character as well as good athletes/football players. Kragthorpe imo has underacheived though.

This is the only thing that confuses me, when folks say he had to clean up Petrino's mess. These guys did not act like thugs under Petrino. WHy, because he knew how tyo handle them. Of course not a lot of so called "Thugs" want to play at Tulsa. Not many kids with any hopes to play at the next level play at Tulsa. So when I think he cleaned up Petrino's mess, I think he must had to empty the coaches office trash cans?/??? Now Saturday is a must win for me. I like Krags and thinks there has been improvement in the play. But you have to win games as well and C-USA teams are teams you have to win.

October 18, 200917 yr I am officially off of the Gus Bus for next coach.... just saying. Oh yeah I was thinking the same thing after the UK game.
