Look at the Bengals, they barely beat the browns but were still able to beat the Ravens and the Steelers.

If you're comparing the level of competition at the college level to that at the NFL level, you have no arguement.

Pete Carroll is being highly complimentary of Notre Dame. Diplomacy or is he cushioning the blow of a potential loss?

I love this quote, though:

"We don't need to go see Touchdown Jesus or the Grotto to get fired up about playing football."

Someone wrote on the side walk the other night. It said: Beat USC, We Believe. It then said 10-17-09 The Fall of Troy.

I really think that this game is going to be great. I can't remember another time the entire University of Notre Dame was so fired up for a game.

Agreed. This is the way the rivalry was meant to be, and why it has been so good for so long. The history on this game is amazing, I'm not really sure there is another quite like it in all of college football.

I don't understand this line of thinking....This ND team can barely escape with wins over the likes of Michigan State and Purdue, but is somehow good enough to beat USC? Makes little to no sense to me.

Comparing scores doesnt make sense. Look at Washington. Beat USc then goes to South Bend and loses to Notre Dame.

USC played that game without their starting QB....

I have seen him play almost off of his games. He with a team that should have more losses than wins. He won't be a good NFL Qb.

Clausen? I'm no Mel Kiper, but I don't see many flaws in his game. He is going to be one of the most well-prepared QB prospects in the last few years. He's no Brady Quinn.

Notre dame played most of the game against Purdue without their starting qb.

Pat Haden is doing one of the radio broadcasts for the Domers. Traitor.

Gotta take USC to win seems they find away to win big Games. But taken the 10 pts that N.D is getting. 28-24 USC

He doesn't seem to be too concerned about the game IMO. Diving on a wet field to see who can slide the farthest 2 days before a game doesn't seem like you're showing any respect to your upcoming opponent. Yeah, it's a way to keep your team loose, but there's a lot of screwing around going on over at USC today.

I guess I don't understand. That was classic Pete Carroll. He rides a bike around campus and pulls practical jokes in team meetings. He's animated, even goofy. His practices are open and they walk around with Snoop Dog and Will Ferrell.

Stafon Johnson walked into team today to energize his teammates. Carroll operates on a different level than other coaches, and I don't think it has anything to do with respect or lack thereof for any opponent.

He has been doing stuff like this for a while and he has more succes than anyone. I don't think it shows any disrespect for ND just Pete Carroll being Pete Carroll

I said right or wrong, he would probably get it. I didn't state whether he should or not. If they only lose 1 game, I'd have no problem with him winning the award. But, I think like UKMF said, if Tebow and/or McCoy were undefeated they would be just as if not more deserving to win it.

I'd say accounting for all 3 of a teams touchdowns is taking over a game. Also, I think Tebow and most collegiate players would take being a key member of a title team over what Forcier is doing. I don't think we need to compare the Big10 to the SEC.

They are impressive in a different way.

I can't believe I'm taking up for Tebow:idunno:.

What I'm saying is that not too many Frosh QB's excel. Those two did.

If Tebow was the starter on that Florida team, that Florida team would not have won the title. However if Tebow was not on that team, I still think that team wins the title. They used him in certain situations, however if they didn't have him they would have just did something else. Meyer's offenses have always been successful, so no reason to think it still wouldn't have been. I don't see how you can say Tebow was a freshman that could take over a game, when he never even played a whole game. He played a handful of plays a game.
