I don't think ND matches up well with USC at all. USC has the kind of defense that can slow down any team and ND has the kind of defense that any team can score on.

The Trojans will roll. Notre Dame simply isn't good enough to beat them. USC already laid its egg for the season, and that's what it would take for them to lose this game.

Joe McKnight might be the Heisman frontrunner after a game against the Irish defense.:D

If Notre Dame can defend the run, they have a shot.

I am a ND fan, but based upon what I have seen thus far, the Irish are not good enough to stop the Trojans ground game. I hope I am wrong.

Rooting for ND, but I don't see how they will stop USC's ground game when Purdue sliced through them.

First off Barkely at the beggining of the year was seen as being the back-up. No offense he is not that good, he is ok. It is the other impact players for USC that makes him look good.:p

Matt Barkley is the starting quarterback at USC. Little more needs be said to affirm his talent. Beat Ohio State in the 'Shoe, Cal at Cal, and is undefeated as a starter for one of the top football universities in the land. I think the guy might be cut just a little slack.

Are you saying Barkley is no good or that Barkley is inexperienced? I think he was a little overhyped, but obviously he has some talent.

Yes to both of these, he is good dont get me wrong, but he is not great.

I cant wait when all of you who say that it will be an easy game for USC, and they either scratch out barely with a win or lose.

Outside of a few players like Forcier or Tebow, there really aren't very many Freshman QBs who can take over a game. They are letting him learn on the fly. He still looks like a pretty good passer. I'd say by next year he will be a pretty good QB. JMO though.

I would be more confident about Notre Dame winning if Micheal Floyd was playing, because I think USC would struggle stopping them then. However since he is not playing, I think it will be easier for them to slow Notre Dame down. They will double team Golden Tate and not let him beat them. Notre Dame still has other good players on offense to go to with Allen at runningback and the TE Rudolph. So I think they will still score, however I am not sure if it will be enough because USC will definitely score against the defense. I want Notre Dame to win, and I do think they have a shot at it. I just think it would be better with Floyd.

Tebow didn't really do much at all his freshman year, he wasn't even the starter. He barely played actually. His success came in his second year, so that just makes what Forcier is doing even more impressive.

I'll take Notre Dame. Only because I think it's going to be close in the 4th and Claussen will come up big in the end. IMO, Claussen wins or loses the heisman during this one.

Tebow still made some huge plays that year. The jumppass against LSU (along with accounting for UF's other 2 TD's), the 4th down run against Tennessee, two TD's in the title game, and ended up UF's second leading rusher despite "barely playing". Tebow didn't play as much as these other Frosh, but isn't it a little more impressive then in a different way? He was needed for huge plays in huge games playing for a title contender, and had to come in cold off the sideline.

I will say Forcier is about as impressive of a freshman QB as I have seen the last few years. It's not really that he's the best, it's his ability to make plays down the stretch. He is able to scramble around and find his targets, while leading a young team. UM isn't a great team again yet, but he makes them legit.

What I'm getting at is those two examples really excelled in their roles, where as most frosh QB's take their lumps. It doesn't mean that a player like Barkley won't be good or isn't good, I think people just need to realize that 18 year old kids are alot different than the 21-22 year old men they are lining up against.

Whether Clausen should win or not, I agree.

You said in your post there are not many true freshman who can take over a game. Tebow in his Freshman year did not come in and take over a game, or lead his team down field to victory. He came in during a play or two in certain situations, and did do well in those situations. However I don't see how you can say a QB who only threw 33 passes as a Freshman was impressive and led his team. He was not even close to being a leader on that team, that was Leaks team that year and it was not even close. Tebow's Freshman season was not that great. Forceirs Freshman season is going to be ten times better than what Tebow's was, so I am just saying Tebow should not be in that discussion.
