If Bardo doesn't play its probably not a "name your score" game. The youngster just doesn't appear ready to throw the ball on a regular basis. He's a sophomore so that's to be expected.

 

Dixie's O gets by on speed and passing. That works against a lot of teams. It will not work against HHS.

 

Dixie's D really struggles tackling. I'd look for the HHS backs (plural) to have a big game.'

 

The positive for Dixie is that between the qb injury and the X win this is definitely the only time you want to catch them.

Highlands defense will know the play after Dixie breaks the huddle. Dixle does not score more than 10.

I'll take Highlands in this one even, without Bardo.

I think HHS will win, but I have also seen teams get so high from winning a huge game that the following week, they can't come down from that high and get into the next game.

 

I am sure Dale has brought his team down to earth, but he better have HHS thinking about the Dixie game this week instead of winning the St. X game last week.

Did the performance by Highlands the other night demonstrate that this is not just some team? I'm going to go out on a limb and say that Coach Mueller will miraculously get his team focused for the Dixie game.

Was that a HHS team? Just won't happen even more so since they won last week. They know what's at stake. Last weeks game means nothing if HHS doesn't win next weeks game and really wins out. Birds roll(I mean run away) with this one!

 

Oh and why does everybody think it will be the soph. QB. They still have Ty Sydel to go to. Now this would be a good game to get some reps for both and then into a bye week to polish things up , but I wouldn't be surprised to see TY.

The only way they score 17 is if the JV defense plays the entire second half and that would still be a stretch.

I thought this was a little strong because Dixie has a very good offense and Highlands seemed to be struggling a little on defense earlier in the season. Then I checked the scores of the two teams and you might be right. Beechwood is the only team that has scored more than 14 points against Highlands. So much for the Highlands defense struggling. I guess I was reading too much into the Highlands faithful's concerns earlier in the year but they are probably upset any time the Bluebirds don't get a shutout.

 

I still think Dixie will at least match Beechwood's 20 points but Dixie's D can not contain the Bluebirds offense even without Bardo. I am going to say Bluebirds win 42-21.

Because that is who got the call in the biggest non 3A or 5A game in the team's history.

Yes HHS (this season) has a very, very special team, but they are still kids and kids sometimes (as adults do also) have a hard time focusing on the job at hand.

 

If this game were later in the season, Dixie would have no chance at all, but.....

Back in spring practice I thought there were 6 guys trying out for QB. Is the best back up for Bardo really a sophomore? I won't mention any names but there is a senior that throws great passes too,he is also left handed. The problem is that he has never played QB at the high school level.

IMO, the 'birds looked a little off in the games leading to the St. X game... they handled their opponents, but the team was not firing on all cylinders. I think the St. X game was the contest that lit the fuse. Perhaps by design. The fire is now in their eyes and it will be awfully hard to put it out.

 

Also, this is not exactly the same defensive personnel that started the season against Beechwood, Ryle, Manual, Withrow and Boone County. In other words, some other ingrediants have been added to the defensive cake mix! Things are lookn' pretty sweeeet!
