IMO, the 'birds looked a little off in the games leading to the St. X game... they handled their opponents, but the team was not firing on all cylinders. I think the St. X game was the contest that lit the fuse. Perhaps by design. The fire is in now in their eyes and it will be awfully hard to put it out.

 

Also, this is not exactly the same defensive personnel that started the season against Beechwood, Ryle, Manual, Withrow and Boone County. In other words, some other ingrediants have been added to the defensive cake mix!

I think HHS will win, but I have also seen teams get so high from winning a huge game that the following week, they can't come down from that high and get into the next game.

 

I am sure Dale has brought his team down to earth, but he better have HHS thinking about the Dixie game this week instead of winning the St. X game last week.

 

With Bardo not playing, you are excepting a very young and inexperienced QB to take over and while I can only assume that HHS has faith in him, is he up to the task?

 

As much as last week game was the Super Bowl to HHS, this game is Dixie Super Bowl. Be careful HHS, be careful......

 

We'll have to wait and see if Pat Towles is the starter this week. When HHS scrimmaged Male before the season, in the second half, junior Ty Seidl played QB for a few series in the fourth quarter. He started the majority of the JV games last season, and ran the offense well. So, I wouldn't count him out. In preparation for X, I would bet that Ty didn't take any snaps at QB, however, with a week of preparation, I wouldn't be surprised.

 

Of course, Pat may get the nod, and with a week of taking the majority of snaps, will be ready. Remember, the coaching staff did an excellent job preparing the team for the game vs. X knowing what they had to work with and against, and will do the same thing against Dixie. Either QB in the game will have the same starting O Line, Receivers and backfield, who will all step up and play just as well.

Best wishes to Bardo and hoping for a speedy recovery! That said, I am looking forward to seeing Pat Towels get comfortable with this offense. Friday night was not indicative of what he can do. I cannot imagine the jitters he must have had being thrown into that situation. Once he gets more comfortable, he will earn his wings, no doubt!

Who's the backup Qb for HHS, how did he perform against X? Even w/out Bardo, I don't see HHS losing under any scenario. I will be interested to see if DHS can put some points on the board.

I agree... Highlands needs to stay focused and treat every week's opponent with the utmost respect and prepare accordingly.

So none of you have ever seen a team win a huge game the week before and come out flat the next week? Come on it happens in the NFL, it happens in the College game, and it could happen to HHS.

 

Yes HHS (this season) has a very, very special team, but they are still kids and kids sometimes (as adults do also) have a hard time focusing on the job at hand.

 

If this game were later in the season, Dixie would have no chance at all, but.....

Yeah tell Collinsworth that after his performance Fri against X. That kid was hurt and played his tail off and unfortunately coughed up the ball a couple times. He was not a happy camper after that game and I will predict he takes it out on his next opponent. I feel sorry for the next team he plays and I am sorry to inform you that will be Dixie.

Was that a HHS team? Just won't happen even more so since they won last week. They know what's at stake. Last weeks game means nothing if HHS doesn't win next weeks game and really wins out. Birds roll(I mean run away) with this one!

 

Oh and why does everybody think it will be the soph. QB. They still have Ty Sydel to go to. Now this would be a good game to get some reps for both and then into a bye week to polish things up , but I wouldn't be surprised to see TY.

 

B/c when the St. X game was still in doubt, and you put your next best option in, #8 was put into the game. This is a perfect time for #8 to take over. He's surrounded by studs, a great defense, and a great offensive line. All he has to do is hand it off and complete 7-8 passes per game, and Highlands wins each game he QBs. It gets the jitters out of his system and gets him ready for next year, as he's getting meaningful minutes in meaningful games. I hope for Bardo's sake that this isn't a major injury, but for right now, Highlands appears to be in good hands.
