September 20, 200916 yr Louisville's defense gave up fewer points than UK's... I'm still having trouble grasping how they are so terrible, yet UK's defense is somehow magically better, because of a couple stops in the 3rd Quarter... He just referenced how. The stops when UL was given a short field time after time were the difference in the game. Nobody is claiming UK's D is as good as the Steelers, but it is obvious that they made more stops when they needed to than Louisville did.

So because of two stops, UK's defense is THAT much better than Louisville's... Got it. :thumb:
September 20, 200916 yr So because of two stops, UK's defense is THAT much better than Louisville's... Got it. :thumb: That and the INT at the end to save the game... whatever margin that makes... yes they are THAT much better :idunno:

I'm still having trouble grasping how they are so terrible, yet UK's defense is somehow magically better, because of a couple stops in the 3rd Quarter... It is a matter of opinion. They gave up points Indiana State, they gave up points today...first time in Kragthorpe Era they lost when scoring 24 or more points in a game. UK stopped themselves most of the game... Im not saying UK's defense is magically better, but they had a yeoman's effort in the third to hold them to 6 points considering the drive starts and field position. You don't think UL's inability to turn three turnovers and short fields into more than 6 points was huge point in the game. We can go round and round....
September 20, 200916 yr In the next four weeks UK... vs Florida vs Alabama @ South Carolina @ Auburn ... Ummm... OUCH! Insert a Beastie Boys lyric... "Looking down the barrel of a gun...son of a gun..."
September 20, 200916 yr So because of two stops, UK's defense is THAT much better than Louisville's... Got it. :thumb: UL's defense is better than many are giving them credit for. The reason that UK's defense was better in this game was that UK's offense & special teams gave UL the ball 3 straight times in UK territory in the 3rd quarter and forced the defense to stay on the field basically then entire quarter. UL could have put the game away with those types of opportunities and that kind of field position if it weren't for the UK defense. I don't think UK's defense is as good as last year's defense right now. I think UL's defensive backs are experienced and a very good group. I don't think that UK's defense is that much better than UL's, I really don't. But you have to know that the defense is the only reason that UK won this game. I know that the offense scored down the stretch when they needed it, but the defense is the reason, even if they aren't as good as last year's Cat squad right now. The bottom line is that UL was better than many thought they were today and UK wasn't as good as many thought they were today. It made for an exciting game.
September 20, 200916 yr Insert a Beastie Boys lyric... "Looking down the barrel of a gun...son of a gun..." We would have to be happy with 1-3 in that stretch

Nobody is claiming UK's D is as good as the Steelers, but it is obvious that they made more stops when they needed to than Louisville did. I think theDuece is still trying to think of something for that. While I'm waiting I will say that both D's played horrible. Touching on what everyone has already said the difference in the game is the stops that UK made (3rd Qrt) when they had to. Their offense and special teams for the most part let them down today. Had it not been for the D in the third quater this game would have gotten ugly and UL would have been the winners. I'm not saying the offense played bad and UL stopped us but turnovers are a powerful thing and also an unpredictable thing. If I thought for one second that UL caused those fumbles/turnovers then I would be giving them more credit. The difference in this game however is that UK tried in everyway possible to be thier own worst enemy. The only thing that saved them is, that in the end, UL's deffense really was the worst on the field.
September 20, 200916 yr After watching what I watched today, Florida 58 UK 7. Did you watch Florida????
September 20, 200916 yr The better team today.....lost.....the better team, overall, may have won.....Louisville dominated most of this game today. UK let UofL have the ball for the entire 3rd quarter , and UofL scored an amazing 6 points. UK made stupid mistakes that kept it close. If they reduce the turnovers and/or don't botch the 2 minute drill at the end of the first half, they win easily.
September 20, 200916 yr How about not getting 3 points before the half? Couldve cost the game. I loved Rich Brooks' comments at halftime: "We got HOMERED by our own time-keeper!!"
September 20, 200916 yr I went to both games on Saturday and UK is bigger and more athletic than UL, the game will not be close. UL has no shot to be UK this year. ISU was the smallest college footbal team ever. St.X and Trinity have more size than those guys. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.... I feel you will eat your words No chance. Words eaten. :thumb:
September 20, 200916 yr Words eaten. :thumb: Go look at my posts in the prediction thread then come talk to me. I was one of the very few who said this game will be very close. Thank me very little.
