UK got lucky just about the same way that the Patriots got lucky this past Monday night. Both my teams pulled it out. Too many mistakes for the Cats to compete with a good team. But Ill take a sloppy win over a mistake free loss any day.

It's always better to be lucky than good.

Heckuva game, much better than I expected. Louisville should have won, but didn't capitalize like they should have at the beginning of the second half. They should have gotten three touchdowns, instead they came away with two field goals. Even still, they had the game won until Guy muffed the punt. When I saw him coming forward to catch it, I knew it was bad news. Louisville may not be as bad as I thought, and UK isn't as good as I thought either. Learn from it and move it.

Outside of a couple mistakes, Hartline didn't play bad today. He made some very big plays.

 

I have to disagree. I mean it was pretty much because of him for why UK almost lost the game. He ran a TERRIBLE two minute offense before half. He let 20 seconds run off the clock and then finally had to call the teams last timeout. Then I think almost everybody knows that when your that close to the goal line with 15 seconds left and no timeouts. You don't throw the ball 6 yards short of the goal line and not even close to out of bounds. That was just flat out dumb. Then the second half he had the interception and then fumble in back to back possessions.

 

I admit he had a few nice plays, but not great by any means. His mistakes outweighed the good he did today IMO, and the reason why UL almost won.

Not to get this stirred up too much, but where was the "Wildcat" offense fro UK today? They ran it 3 times against Miami, scored twice, then turn around and don't run it the first time today.

They did run it once and Cobb ran for about 5 yards on it.

Randall Cobb can flat out play football. Locke also had a very nice game.

After the priest cancelled his appointment with my son and his fiancee, we had the opportunity to watch the game. We went with the plan that we'd be happy if the Cards hung with the Cats for awhile, and a win would be SWEET! We figured we'd be leaving by halftime. We, of course, stayed through the whole game. :lol:

 

My thoughts are that I'm very pleased! We weren't being given a chance by ANYONE in this game...except for the 9 of us in the prediction thread. :lol:

 

I've read posts that UK wasn't good today, which I expected. I've heard people saying Kragthorpe is for sure gone because of that 4th & 1 call. But I don't think that UK played that badly, overall. The three turnovers to begin the 2nd half were awful, to be sure. But two were stripped, and one was an interception. I say UL's D was the cause of those TO's.

 

I think UL's D is better than most want to admit. I think the call on the 4th and 1 was a good one, but wasn't executed well. I think Kragthorpe came in with a GREAT offensive plan, and once the offense settled in to it, it started going great. We moved the ball well for the most part. But credit UK's red zone D for denying us several times. UL's offense is well on it's way to improving, and I think we will be in the next few games.

 

I may be the only one, but I'm extraordinarily pleased in the progress of this team year over year. And I agree with LRCW that if Kragthorpe is given the chance, he will be a heckuva coach @ UL.

 

For my Cardnial friends, exactly what do you want, in order to consider this season a success? A win isn't pretty enough, a loss is Kragthorpe's fault. Yet there were many great play calls, that were simply not executed well. A lot comes down to an inexperienced O playing a very experienced D. But our inexperienced D showed it has some big playmakers.

 

Cardinal players that I particularly love: Victor Anderson, Scott Long, Johnny Patrick, & Justin Burke. Justin especially. He showed he has the ability to buckle down and keep working. When the throws weren't going well, he got it together. Trent Guy, despite the one mistake, played a spectacular game, IMO. I was not impressed with Powell though. I think his decision to go inside instead of outside on the 4th and 1 was the reason it went bad, not the call itself.

 

Overall, as I said before, I'm extremely pleased with UL's performance today. I hope they don't dwell on the loss, but build on all the positives. I realize UK made mistakes, and I think it's easy to say that they just didn't play well, which is why we kept it so close. But there is such a thing as not playing well because the Defense makes you look bad. That doesn't mean you played badly, as you were MADE to play badly.

 

In the end, this game came down to the very last play. How can a Cardinal fan not be pleased with that, when even most Cardinal fans felt that the team would lose by at least 14?

Cards played a solid game today. You can't have turnovers late and expect to win. I thought the Cards proved they are better than everyone thought. I seen a lot of good things today.

Ran it twice today into the boundary and the same result. Loss of yards.

Also heard our Randy Sanders broke his wrist today after a Louisville player ran into him on the sideline. Looks like he might need surgery...

 

If I'm not mistaken It was a UK player that knocked him down...I don't know if thats when it happened...:idunno:

So many mistakes it's not funny, but as Leach said on the radio, before, UK would have found a way to lose that game. Glad to see they can at least pull out these close games.

Next week will be ugly for the Cats.
