Pulaski went from 2-9 in 2006 to 10-2 in 2007.

South Oldham went from one win to 10 wins in 1991-92

Henderson County was winless in 2000 and won nine games in 2000-01

 

All other things being equal, I would expect these wild fluctuations to be more prevalent with Class A or Class AA-sized schools; where the loss or gain of a couple of stud players can have more of an impact.

West Jessamine won 2 games last season and are currently 7 - 0

Before '97 they went 13 years with out a winning season.

I am getting up there. When I was a little guy, the Boyle County Rebels wore gold helmets and Harrodsburg was running the single wing with guys like Henry Parks, Venus Meaux and before them Bo Yeast. I saw the Rebs and Ads play at Centre College and the Rebels play at old Stanford HS. The central Kentucky small city schools were tough to beat- Bardstown, Danville, Somerset, Frankfort, Harrodsburg and Paris. Sorry I am somewhat off topic but I bet there are a few old folks like me out there that remember those days.

All of you are right- I am old! 27 years ago this fall I was playing Qb for Larry French at Mercer County HS(back when we were the Dogs) and I also had Coach French for Driver's Ed. We weren't very good, but it was a great experience playing for Coach French. He held our team togther and we at least won a couple more games at the end. Coach French has been a blessing to alot of kids at a lot of different schools. Hopefully this is the year he gets to coach a state champion, but regardless he is one of the best coaches and people to coach the game of football in this state.

I wasn't giving them much of a chance of finishing this regular season undefeated a few weeks ago when I started this thread, but now I'm starting to get optimistic? I think Boyd County will be a tougher test then most people give them credit for. They always play with pride and have a good coaching staff that will have them ready to play. Someone mentioned to me that they thought East Carter had a winless to undefeated regular season in the 90's but I don't remember that happening? Hopefully an East Carter fan on here can help with that info?

 

Even if we lost the last two games it seems to me that this has to be one of, if not the biggest turnarounds in state history. I can tell you that these kids earned it in the weight room and the offseason work they put in. Some friends of mine that know a few players said that most of the players really put extra time in this offseason on just strength and conditioning. I think that the coaches had preached to them that they needed to stay in good shape and I think they took it to heart and motivated themselves to get better.

 

I've also mentioned in another thread that another big factor is that the schedule this year is NOT comparable to last year. These kids needed this type of schedule to get things turned around here. It was a great move on the part of the coaching staff.

Gee, thanks, Chief...it was 29 years ago when I graduated from Oldham County...so if you're old, well, I just don't remember what I am... :confused:
