I'm unaware of their record and such....maybe someone with more knowledge than I knows, but what was Fort Campbell's record the year before Coach Berner started as Head Coach?

Looks like in 2001 the Falcons were 3-7 and the next year (2002) they were 6-5 which I think would have been Berner's first year.

That information is correct. 2002 was also the last year Fort Campbell lost to Fort Know in the Army Bowl.

Monroe County went from 2-9 in 2007 to 12-2 and making the semi-finals in 2008. That has to be one of the top 10 best turn a rounds in recent history.

In the four years preceding Coach Berner at Fort Campbell they were 5-35. Since he has been the Head Coach they have not had a losing season.

Dudley Hilton turning a perinial loser Bourbon County into a state champ in one year was a great turnaround.

Thanks for all the research everyone.. I tried to be very specific in saying regular season, because I just don't think any team could go from winless to state title. With that being said I also don't think Lawrence County can go undefeated in the regular season. Don't get me wrong, I love my team and would love to see it happen, but there are at least 3 teams on the remaining schedule that I think will give the bulldogs all they can handle. I know we'll make the playoffs (all of the district does) and that means that we will probably run into Bell county. Once again I love the Bulldogs, but I've got enough respect for Bell to know that we've got allot more work before we are on that level again. Even if we pulled off a MIRACLE and beat Bell we'd have to probably play Boyle after that and that program is in a league of it's own right now.

 

So with all that being said I was still just thinking that even with a couple of losses at the end of the regular season (assuming we only have a couple losses) Lawrence could potentially be one of the biggest turn arounds ever in KY high school football.

I agree. Whitley County had the exact same turnaround from 2007 to 2008. Very impressive!

1993 - Randy Reese's last year as HC they went 1-9

1994 - Tom Duffy's first year as HC they went 12-1

 

2000 - 0-10

2001 - 9-3

As far as "biggest turnarounds" you cite a good one.

 

Boyle has had two of those if I recall.

 

Chuck Smith turned a 1-9 team (predecessor) into a 7-4 his first year. (1991 to 1992)

 

I think John Buchanan took an 0-10 Boyle team (predecessor) to something good his first year. (Could have been 9-1-1 but that might have been his second year)

 

Boyle did not win a game in 1967 or 1968. The Rebels were 9-1-1 in 1969, John Buchanan's first season. The tie was Washington County and the loss was Stanford HS. The Rebels defeated Greensburg, MMI, Harrodsburg, Garrard, Mercer, Lebanon, Anderson, and Danville. Can't believe I have forgotten the 9th team, but I was 4 years old.:sssh:
