I'll say Cov by 10-14 points.

Should be a great matchup. I will take Beechwood in this one.

Saw him at the CovCath vs. Cov Holy Cross scrimmage and Walker is a very good QB, but he doesn't have as many weapons surrounding him as Erpenbeck does. As I said before, if Beechwood keys to much on the CovCath QB, the other RB's will kill Beechwood!

 

That will be the difference. Walker is his team. From many who were at the Bwood game, he pretty much was the one man team doing everything for them to bring in the win. Erpenbeck has more options and thus should be more successful.

I think this will be a great game. I'll take CCH to pull it out in the 4 th. They won't give the game away the way I hear Beechwood's last opponent did. This will be two schools with great football tradition looking to get on a winning streak. Both teams are showing improvement and I look for that to continue. Haven't seen Erpenbeck this year but when it comes to a running QB Walker is the real deal. Looking forward to seeing this one.

The Beechwood/Cov Cath rivalry is a bigger one than is let on sometimes. It has always been much more of a game of will rather than a game of skill, and for the most part, this has been a relatively close game for the last dozen or so matchups. The only particularly "one-sided" game I can think of was the 2006 contest, which I believe Cov Cath won 36-0. Aside from that, it's usually a tough game that isn't decided until the 4th quarter.

 

I don't see this one being any different. Both teams are building themselves up, as evidenced in the outcomes of their first few games this season. I think this will be a close game that Cov Cath will pull out in the 4th by no more than 10 points.

I know a color man that could add some colorful adjectives about how the Colonels did not beat Beechwood in varsity football from 1995-1998. I would imagine a very rare winning streak against the Colonels. I remember the 1998 game as it was about 110 on the field and kids were depositing water on the field as fast as they could put it in their stomachs.

The streak goes back a year farther than that and it is longer than what you said. The streak started my senior year in 94 when we beat them 19-10. Beechwood beat the Cov Cath 9 straight times.

I can definitely see where people would say Holy Cross gave that game away. But two plays before the fumble, Beechwood "gave it away" with an ill advised pass that was intercepted at the 5 yard line. Or how about Beechwood intercepting a pass only to fumble the ball right back to Holy Cross on the interception return...and that turned into Holy Cross' go ahead TD late in Q4. You can play that stuff back and forth all day in a close game like that one. Both teams gave away and/or both teams took away in that game. At the end of the day, Beechwood EARNED that win by making the plays they needed to.

Yessir, I was there and remember it well. Adam McCormick had one heck of a game. Honestly, I was kind of looking at the series since '95 or so, but yeah, there have been some more one-sided games.

I believe it was either 7 or 8 straight wins. Cov Cath won 7-0 in 2001 if I'm not mistaken. So dependent on if you were talking the '94 graduating class/'93 football season, or the '95 graduating class/'94 football season, it's either 7 or 8.

Haha, yep, I was one of them. They were dumping water on the offensive linemen as we came off the field to try to keep body temperatures down. The officials even called a few "water timeouts" during possession changes. That was the only time I ever recall seeing that happen.

 

Ohhh yeah, and that was also the game that Cov Cath made a 2nd half defensive stand and started on an offensive roll, and then the stadium lights mysteriously "went out" and the game had to stop for 15 minutes while the lights powered back up. :sssh:
