I will go with Cov Cath with this one. Beechwood is only a running team. If Cov Cath stops Beechwood running back they will be good to go. Beechwood doesnt have a passing game.

Well, there are two ways to take that. One, Beechwood doesn't want to throw the ball. Two, they aren't able to throw the ball. Unfortunately for Beechwood, so far this season it is #2. With this year's personnel, the passing game was being counted on to be a big part of the offense. They want to pass the ball. They try it every week, with miserable results. The only week they had any success with passing the ball, ironically, is against Highlands. So I guess what you are saying is true, they are only a running team but that is because they can't get any production out of the passing game. It isn't for lack of desire or effort or a lack of attempts at passing. It is a lack of execution.

If Cov Cath Defense doesnt stop Ridgon(sp?) Beechwood Quaterback. It will be a long game for Cov Cath but if they do. Cov Cath wins. They have other good running backs but no one else that is good enough to hurt them. (Like Collinsworth, Simpson)

No one else has backs like those two. But Colosimo had 225 yards rushing and 4 TD's last week. He is very explosive. And beware of the sophomore Vocke. He is making a big play or two or three every week. From what I have heard, those two are better than any running backs CCH has.

All I'm saying is that in recent history. Beechwood finds a way to win against CC.

 

If you want to go with recent history, CCH has won 4 out of the last 5.

 

If you want to go with the Mike Yeagle era, Beechwood won 70% of the games.

 

If you want to go with all-time, it is dead even.

 

Sounds like this one could go either way.

Colosimo is a good runner but always gets hurt a lot. Vocke is a okay runner just has speed. Those two running back are a little bit better then Cov Cath but not that much. Just remember Cov Cath has one of the best Wr's in Northern Kentucky that beechwood has to worry about.

No doubt about that. Beechwood's defense has struggled, especially against the pass. And Connelly is a difficult match up with his size. But the bigger problem for Beechwood is in the defensive line play. Their defensive line has been pushed around and has put zero pressure on the QB. There have been several plays this year where the QB has basically sat in the pocket and watched receivers run as long as it took to get open with no threat of getting sacked. No defensive back can cover his man forever. Beechwood has to find a way to get pressure on the QB if they want to win this game.

I agree with you. You cant give Erpenbeck time to pass. He is also a good runner. The key to this game is special teams. Cov Cath is doing terrible right now in punting the ball. It cost them one game so far.

And that is where you better watch out for Vocke. He returned a punt for a TD against Holy Cross and they had it covered well. He just did his thing, made a 2 or 3 cuts along the way and went in for the score. His cutting ability is similar to Collinsworth's.

Agree that this is one of the more interesting games this week. Holy Cross obviously gave Beechwood all that they could handle. CovCath is progressing nicely vs good competition. This game has a rich history and CovCath has the edge this year.

My understanding is Pee Wee has invited both teams and their coaches to Pee Wee's on Thursday evening after practice. There will be a hot dog eating contest between Coach Rash and Coach Wirth. Coach Rash is 1A size and Coach Wirth is 5A size so it will be a big "upset" if Coach Rash wins that one.

Averaged over 43 a punt against LaSalle. Punting will not be a problem.
