June 25, 201016 yr Just finished Fatal Cure by Robin Cook(medical thriller), The Wrong House by Carol McD.Wallace(funny), Red Ink by Greg Dinallo(post cold war thriller), and all were good reads but my favorite of the four: Having Our Say The Delaney Sisters' First 100 Years by Sarah and Elizabeth Delaney with Amy Hill Hearth Kodansha(true story).
June 25, 201016 yr No Less Than Victory by Jeff Shaara Picks up in late 1944 after the D-Day invasion and the allied advance toward Berlin. Excellent author.
June 26, 201016 yr Born to Rule by Julia P. Gelardi...it is the story of five Queen Victoria's granddaughters and their lives as queens or empresses of various European countries, particularly during WWI. It's fantastic. The author relies heavily on letters and diaries from all involved, which gives much credibility to the work. I feel as though I am privy to the personal conversations of queens and kings. The book covers how each came to be married into other royal families, the paths their country took in WWI, which left some with revolution and annihilation, and how each raised families. The granddaughters featured include Queen Sophie of Greece, Empress Alexandra of Russia, Queen Ena of Spain, Queen Maud of Norway and Queen Marie of Romania. If you enjoy world history with a personal touch, you will absolutely LOVE this book.

July 4, 201016 yr The Patriot's History of the United States by Larry Schweigarht (sp?). Its a timeline from Columbus's voyage to nearly present day. Very good informative book. Larry Schweikart was one of my teachers at the University of Dayton and a phenomenally smart guy. The natural companion to The Patriot's History is The People's History. I read them both back to back and it's amazing how different two perspectives on the exact same periods in history can look. Also, still working on that volume of Katherine Ann Porter. Studying for the bar is really taking a bite out of my recreational reading.
July 25, 201016 yr I just finished my first audiobook, Empire of the Summer Moon: Quanah Parker and the Rise and Fall of the Comanches, the Most Powerful Indian Tribe in American History, by S.C. Gwynne. Loved the book and loved listening to it as an audiobook! If you have an iPod (or iPhone or iPad) and have not tried audiobooks, you are missing out!
