September 2, 200917 yr The hate for Favre almost makes me laugh. Of course he went low.... do people really expect a QB to block high? They shouldn't be blocking at all but with the size of the D players they sure as heck better block low! Go back and watch Alex Smith's block on a LB last week and ask me if I expect a QB to block high.. . . . I'll give you a hint, the answer starts with a Y.
September 2, 200917 yr Wow. Lot of animosity towards Brett. I was watching the game, think that the Vikes are retarded for having him do it. My guess is he volunteered to do it. Just the type of player he is. He plays every game the same way. Preseason or not. Love him or hate him, he leaves it all on the line. I didn't think it was dirty. I thought it was low, but frankly he could have gone lower. Gonna be alot of drama in this forum this season from the resident NFC guys that already have angst towards Favre. Excellent post!
September 2, 200917 yr Wrong. Technically he was injured on the play but has since fully recovered from it.
September 2, 200917 yr Wrong. See below. Technically he was injured on the play but has since fully recovered from it. Thanks, that is what I meant.
September 2, 200917 yr I doubt it was dirty. But, it was stupid all the way around...the Vikings are stupid for calling that play and Favre is stupid for throwing a low block. It's a pre-season game. Think. And, I seriously doubt that Brett Favre got "nervous or scared" in the moment. The Vikings made a stupid call and Favre made a stupid play. I have no problem with Harvin taking snaps at QB, but Favre doesn't have to stay on the field.
September 2, 200917 yr I like Favre but you simply cannot defend that block. The kid is lucky he wasn't hurt badly on the play. It doesn't matter if Favre doesn't know how to block or if he wasn't "trying" to hurt him. There are some plays in football that EVERYONE knows you don't make and Favre made one of them. He should be fined. He's lucky a Titan didn't try to take his head off.

September 2, 200917 yr I'm not impressed with anything he did in that play. It was dirty and it could have been a career ender. It was very stupid of the Vikings to put him out there, and it was very inconsiderate of Favre to throw a cheap block like that. I really don't think that anything dirty was meant by the block at all but I do agree that it was a "bad" block. Favre is not exactly used to playing WR, much less throwing blocks. IMO he shouldn't have went low like he did at all but he is a competitor and was just wanting tp throw a block. That desn't make it right just that it was a bad play but nothing intentional imo. I am glad no one was seriously injured although I did hear that Favre said in the presser that he may have cracked a rib, I don't know if that was a "tounge in cheek" statement or not. I agree with some others in that why would the Vikings have him out there on a play in ther first place..............."Stupid".
September 2, 200917 yr Forget a fine...just make Favre give the guy with the bum knee all his pain pills.

And competitors play fair, they don't dive at other players knees.

Lower might have been better. He hit the guy right at the knees. It was dirty...make a real block if your such a "competitor". He left it all on the line but he also put someone's season at risk because he doesn't know how to block. It was stupid.

Why do I wonder if you'd be defending Eli if the tables were turned? Your song is always the same. I know, I know, the Giants would be so much smarter than to have Eli even attempt that block. Blah, Blah, Blah
September 2, 200917 yr Look, everyone knows you don't like Favre. We get it. Why do I wonder if you'd be defending Eli if the tables were turned? Your song is always the same. I know, I know, the Giants would be so much smarter than to have Eli even attempt that block. Blah, Blah, Blah Why is Eli brought into this? Trust me, if the Giants were stupid enough to line an injured 39 year old Eli out a wide receiver, and then he threw a cheap block at someone's knees...I'll be saying the same things. And this has NOTHING to do with my dislike for Brett Favre. Believe it or not, I can form opinions on something without looking at WHO did it. It's a matter of WHAT happened, not who did it. If Roethlisberger did it, I'd say it was cheap and dirty. If Peyton Manning did it, I'd say it was cheap and dirty. Oh...and stupid, considering it's preseason. Which is one step up from a practice. And your song is pretty similar to mine, just replace "Giants" with "Steelers".
