I'm not sure I fit into any of those categories.

 

I read some Shakespeare, but it wasn't because I was afraid my teachers/parents would kill me. And I did not love or hate any Shakespeare that I read. I liked some of it though.

You sit there and try and tell me that this ain't great...

 

The only reason I read Shakespeare was to get a good grade, and I still barely read any of it.

The MST3K version of Hamlet is a classic.

Read Julius Caesar. Not my style.

 

LBBC, what you going for with this thread? Anything more than RM's claim of you pigeon-holing (i.e. claiming that results of this poll indicate the value of reading Shakespeare) are off-base IMO. But if all you are trying to do is validate your claim against RM's, then go for it.

 

I have been known to be wrong and was wondering if I was. If BGP's male faithful loved it, I will gladly admit that I was wrong and RM was right.

Have acted in his plays, written theses about his sonnets and other works, and have read almost all. If you are interested in linguistics and philology, Shakespeare is the alpha and the omega.

Loved Hamlet... Others were ok.

I'm in that category too, but I think I liked it more after high school, when it was no longer homework.

I read it for class. Didn't go out looking for more Shakespeare, but I liked what we read. I didn't understand most of it, but it's kind of like music: you don't really have to get all the words to enjoy the song.

 

Just for the record, Shakespeare isn't an "it"; he's a person. So there's a lot more to Willie's work than just the ever-popular Romeo & Juliet.
