I think that this will be the premier game in Northern Ky this week. This game will be a hard fought, well played game. I look for Elliot from Ryle to continue to dominate on the ground for the second straight week.

Just don't see Ryle reaching that level.

I do think it will be close, Ryle is usually a strong defensive squad. I do think that the RAMS last week were a lot better defensive squad than most posters ever thought and RowdyRedRam had it pegged. I think Highlands had a tough time with that defensive line and could not get to the linebackers which was the strength of that squad. Manual lbs made all the tackles and kept a lot of plays from being a large gain. Highlands did hit one long pass play over the top; but definitely showed first game jitters. I am certain that the unit will play better in the coming weeks they are just too talented not to. On HHS defensive side the OLB/Ends need to keep containment and the interior line needs a bigger push. I saw a lot of CB and LB's making plays 5 to 10 yards from the line of scrimmage. Not enough penetration by the unit. The Ram QB was a very gifted player and really did well in the open field. I don't know anything about Ryle this year; however any NKY program that steps up and plays HHS twice, shows and get big time respect at least from me. I think HHS wins by less than 10 in a great game and one that leaves you wanting more in part II.

You might want to drop a dime for a call up to Johnson Central and see how that line of thinking worked out for them in last years playoffs - and believe me, they could RUN the ball. If you're primarily a running team and you get down to Highlands, its over unless you get some serious breaks your way.

Last season Cincinnati Colerain scored 33 on Highlands, I believe.

 

I think that if Ryle wins it won't be because of Highlands' defense giving up too many scores (they only gave up 8 against Manual), but because of Highlands' offense struggling to put enough points on the board.

If you think Ryle is a run only team like they may have been in the past then you might get fooled. Hempel can throw the ball and has some nice receivers. They ran the ball against Cov Cath because they could. If it's a high scoring game then Highlands wins. Low scoring affair, then I will take the Raiders.

What were his passing stats? I didn't see it in the paper.

Manual scored only 8 points because they turned the ball over. Manual's offense moved the football well just couldn't finish drives. Highlands turned the ball over as well but it was never a drive killing or momentum killing error. If Ryle can limit giving up the big play and not turn the ball over, the game will be very close.

50 yards on 15 pass attempts, maybe 5 or 6 completions. Passing game struggled a bit and with the running game working so effectively in the second half, they pretty much eschewed the pass.

Four of Hempels attempts were dropped balls. Completely catchable.
