This is fairly common place activity in football nowdays. I'm somewhat surprised you are shocked by it.

 

Also the late hit was a rare exception in that game and the Manual coaches pulled the player out immediately. It was bad, but from my vantage point it was more stupid bad than malicious bad.

 

After watching the tape many times over the weekend, I must say there were quiet a few "stupid bad" actions that should have been called and were not. One where the manual player went after A Highlands player after the whistle blew, another that was basically a boxing match that wasn't called. I believe a flag was thrown on the one where Highlands player Siedl intercepted and Manual #83 came up just had to throw an elbow into his shoulder. That last one may have been called but I am sure Highlands would decline.

 

In other words, there was plenty of dirty playing going on and personnally I don't think the refs were paying much attention to it. Been to other

games where flags are thrown for much less like language let alone "stupid bad" hits.

Could we gag the stadium announcer at the game?? I am not certain that every first down should be rewarded with such enthusiasm. Act like you have been there, it is one thing to celebrate after a touchdown but every first down, you have got to be kidding me. It wasn't too long after his spill about sportsmanship that he started his first down cry. Practice what you preach.

I agree! I was listening on the Internet, and after the second occurance, I just wanted to strangle that guy! :madman:

I suppose it is just a regional difference, but most games I watch are much, much, much more nasty on the field than that game.

Then maybe the refs in that region need extra classes in Sportsmanship. Do they even listen to the little speech before each game?:confused:

Just curious if throwing a punch is an automatic ejection or just a personal foul. I could of sworn I saw a Manual linebacker stradling a HHS lineman on the goalline just opposite of where a touchdown was scored when it appeared the Manual player punched the HHS player in the head. A referee was not more than 10 feet away looking right at the two players. I asked the fans on either side of me if they saw the punch and nobody did. Was that caught on tape or was I just seeing things that didn't happen?

I was told Bardo played well.

 

He did for being his 1st ever QB start at the Varsity level.

It was a very, very late hit. Luckily the HHS receiver wasn't hurt. He was fortunately caught by a couple of other players. If they wouldn't have been there, no telling where he would of ended up. Maybe on the track!!!!

You can't always control players on the field and if he was removed then what more would you like from the coaching staff?

I don't want the coaching staff to do anything else. Maybe I worded it wrong. The kid should of made a better decision(sp). I was only responding to the poster saying they have never seen a Manual player playing unsportsmanlike. There were plenty of other plays as Henry stated but that's why we have Refs on the field of play..

You saw what I saw and the ref was right there and didn't do a thing. I believe the rule is automatic ejection from the game. But I really don't want to harp on this and some other non calls. The game is over and Highlands played a good team in Manual, good luck to both teams this year!!!

I wasn't able to attend, and I still really don't have an idea as to how the game played out, except the announcer was annoying, and there were maybe a suspect hit or two?? I would like to say I attended a game at Manuel Stadium a couple of years ago, and except for the lighting ( which I heard was improved) thought it was a classic HS football stadium.
