I see he scored 2 short TD's but he must not have racked up many yards or these guys would be all over it.

 

Unspectacular, but on the whole the entire team kinda seemed lethargic. It was week #1. It's crazy to get too hyped up over it. Lots of room for improvement and they always seem to fill those rooms.

Ok, can we set some realistic expectations now for HHS.

 

Yes they are good...yes they are 30 points better than anybody in NKY....and yes they will win state, but all this National Championship talk is flat out ridiculous. There are 3-4 teams in Cincinnati alone who are better than them.

 

Fortunately, the real expectations for the team are set by the coaches and the team, regardless of what is speculated on message boards. I'm confident that those expectations were not altered based on last night's game!

Since the Manual game wasn't a blowout,like everyone thought it was going to be,I'm sure the remaining opponents on Highlands schedule are motivated just a little bit more also. They all think they have a legit shot at knocking off the birds. I'm hoping that the Manual game was a rude awakening for the birds,if they don't learn from this game, it might be a disappointing season.Forget all the hype,the national champs stuff , and just go play football!!

The 2007 Birds had a wake up call late in the season against Central. Came out slow and seemingly unmotivated and had to score 3 times in the last 8 minutes to win the game. They went on to roll through the balance of the season. Hopefully this is an early wake up call to this team and they will forget about all the hype they hear and play the rest of the season ready to prove they are champions.

That is not for this thread. We have several weeks to work up to that and I wouldn't be so sure on that. I bet we score less against this Manual team than we did against the state champ Bluebirds when they came to the cage (33).

Hey CardinalsFan, how about you tone down some of the jabs you've been taking at Highlands, like the comment above or the one about Highlands getting embarrassed at home against Saint X. Why don't you concentrate on your team not getting embarrassed any this year, and we 'Birds fans will take care of ourselves.

Colerain doesn't get embarassed in ANY game...EVER. We are in every game we play. You won't see 45-0 scores in our history A.C. (that's "After Coombs" ).

Could we gag the stadium announcer at the game?? I am not certain that every first down should be rewarded with such enthusiasm. Act like you have been there, it is one thing to celebrate after a touchdown but every first down, you have got to be kidding me. It wasn't too long after his spill about sportsmanship that he started his first down cry. Practice what you preach. This is not a reflection of the fans or stadium, in fact I thought it was nice place to play and their defensive unit put on clinic on how to wrap and finish a tackle except for the overzealous out of bounds hit; which was not needed. Overall, was impressed and good luck to the team.

This is fairly common place activity in football nowdays. I'm somewhat surprised you are shocked by it.

 

Also the late hit was a rare exception in that game and the Manual coaches pulled the player out immediately. It was bad, but from my vantage point it was more stupid bad than malicious bad.
