Got back from the game.

 

This is my first time seeing Highlands in person and I will tell you the thing impressed about them was how little fat there was on the team. Your program and coaching staff should be very proud of how fit a team you put on the field. I also thought they played with a great deal of class, which I feel is another testament to your coaching staff.

 

I knew our offense was not going to look pretty in this game and the turnovers and penalties showed that to be the case. This Manual offense will get better over time, the improvement I saw from the first quarter to the fourth tells me that we can become okay. I still don't think we have enough weapons to be a great threat but we may not need them.

 

I was very happy with our defense, especially our linebackers I really thought they did everything they could to keep us in this game. Manual always has good defenses and Highlands fans who expected a 50 point game were simply not appreciating the task ahead of them.

 

It was one of those games you leave wanting to see a rematch later in the season when both teams are playing a little cleaner.

My apologies go out to the Ram fans for my earlier prediction of a blowout win for Highlands. This team made a lot of improvements in the last week.

However, much like the Ballard scrimmage, mental mistakes at critical times proved costly, and may have prevented Manual from springing a monstrous upset tonight.

Well, the team won a state title. That's all that matters, and I have no doubt Bardo will lead us to another.

 

:thumb: Exactly right Bluebirds. When a team is state champs, no need to question anything, especially who should have been QB. I don't care if Bardo goes on to set some state passing records, gets a BCS D1 scholarship and the team is undefeated state champs, Guidugli was still the right QB for last year.

PS On a final note, it seems the CardinalsFan was dead on when he scoffed at so many people predicting a huge Highlands blowout.

Far be it for the guy from the buckeye state to try and understand your bluegrass folk but I couldn't help it! Those score predictions were ridiculous. I think sometimes there is a faction of your Highland folk who truly thing Mueller and that program walk on water.

 

Look, I admire the program and Coach Mueller. How can you not? But that talk was silly and uneducated. It was based off a SCRIMMAGE! A glorified practice between two teams that had nothing at stake. How you base any sort of score prediction off that is utter nonsense. I hope that lesson was learned by some of the Highland faithful after this game.

 

And can we now please stop talk of "National Championships" and all that nonsense. It's fruitless. Get better and don't get embarassed at home in a few weeks by St. Xavier. If you can do that and win yet ANOTHER state title, it will be time to petition the KHSAA for a move to 6A. :walk:

 

Congrats on a hard fought win. As for the Crimsons, see you in a few weeks. Looking forward to it.

That is not for this thread. We have several weeks to work up to that and I wouldn't be so sure on that. I bet we score less against this Manual team than we did against the state champ Bluebirds when they came to the cage (33).

While I'm sure Bardo will live up to all that's been written about him, perhaps this is reason not to "overhype" someone who's starting their first varsity game at QB. Possible the kid felt a little extra pressure when he's already been tabbed as the top QB in the state and possibly best QB in HHS history? You gotta respect the incredible enthusiasm of the Bluebird faithful, but I wonder if sometimes it's just a tad too much?
