I agreed with you #5.Give Coach Stamm a chance .He would be a perfect for NDA.

I don't think there is a chance this will happen. No reason, just don't think it is in the cards.

The clock is ticking. Time to make a decision. :idunno:

I agree. Though I believe Coach Stamm would be an excellent hire (for reasons stated above by #5 about talent and dedication), I'm thinking it's not in the cards either. The only reason I believe this is because, at this time, I haven't heard definitively that he has even expressed interest in the position. Now, on the off chance that he throws his hat in the ring, I may change my tune.

(As a disclaimer, I have to mention that I would hate to see him leave Ludlow, especially given the complete turnaround the program has taken since he's been head coach.)

Of the names mentioned on this board the most I still think it comes down to Murphy and Maile. Stamm is not going anywhere I am not sure he is even interested. McDonald is not a good fit here with the parental influences mentioned several times in previous threads. I have heard many girls coaches speak of this job as a no win situation. If you win you are supposed to or you didn't win by enough or not with the right girls playing. If you lose you are a bad coach because NDA gets all the best talent in NKY. Those close to this situation may be taking for granted that any coach would jump at this opportunity...not true. Let's face it with the economy still in bad shape and the cost of tuition some of these athletes have other options to consider. Like it or not the clock is ticking on NDA and they need to make a hire. I still think Maile is the best choice...JMO.

How much does a high school basketball coach make? I find it hard to believe that it could lower the the cost of tuition if Mr. Maile coached for free.

You are correct. My guess is its a $5k to $10k gig.

600 girls paying $5200 or so in tuition. $10k / 600 = a $16.67 reduction in tuition.

At parochial schools try $3k to $4k. That would be my guess. That is part of the reason a coach at a public school is hesitant to move unless money is no object. Your original estimate is probably not that far off for public schools.

When is the last time a coach at a public school left for a private school? I'm syre it has happened sometime, but it doesn't happen often.

If Mr. Maile is willing to do it for free, then that is a very generous offer of his time. I just did not think that it would be enough to lower tuition.

You are missing my point. Maile coaching for free does nothing to the tuition cost. I am speaking of parents having to pay tuition (NDA) or sending little Cindy to (Dixie,Beechwood,Scott,Boone Co) for FREE! Enrollments are dropping. All the tuitions at all Catholic schools in NKY were froze this year due to the economy which meant all teachers salaries were froze as well. I do not think they can continue this or they will lose teachers and much needed work at the schools will not get done. To be honest I would say NDA's coach makes around 3k and most public schools around 6k...both underpaid IMO. It just makes my point that Maile if hired would save NDA about 3k if they chose to do this. This is only about 1/2 a years tuiton for 1 girl.

A "source" told me that there is no chance Maile gets the job, although I sure hope that he does. Irregardless, Murphy and Maile would both be good hires

What was Maile's record when he coached at NDA?

I'd expect an announcement in a little less than 2 weeks.
