Good point. Going back over the state winners/runnerups, only Jim Higgins at Highlands with a pretty good basketball player on his team in 1994 was able to make it to the championship game.

I'm just curious. You have made some very bold statements in your post. Why do you believe Petroze is that much better than any high school coach in the area.

I am like you #5 I think Coach Stamm would be an excellant choice for the job.He has turned the Ludlow program around and doing it the right way.He would keep the ND program going in the right direction.What i hear his former asst. coach [Mike Clary] is looking for a varsity asst. job if one comes availability he could get back into coaching.Maybe these guys could work together again.They done a great job working at Ludlow.

I dont think you wil get a current head coach to step away from his/her team this late in the season. Also, you have teaching contracts that have a penalty in them if you leave too late in the summer and I am not sure what positions NDA even has still open at this point, I would doubt any. I do not think any of last years assistants will even be interested in this job. I am not sure what the future holds for Coach Petroze but I do not think it is at NDA. I go back to an earlier post...I think Dick Maile may be the guy here. I think he would do it for free, he wants to be a head coach in the worst way. Coach Stamm has cast his lot at Ludlow, he would not bail out on those kids now.

That's what led me to speculate that she wanted one of her assistants to take over but others have said that's not the case which then does lend credence to your question.

I know there were politics involved at Silver Grove, and I also know who you are referring to, so you are right on that count. I also know it was a very different situation at Brossart, however.

I do agree with you on the former NCC coach. She would be an excellent choice as she won 2 regional titles at NCC and lost in the finals twice also. I think you are correct in suspecting she would not be ready to step away from watching and being involved in coaching her children at this point, however.

You are wrong. She was NOT asked to resign. She did so voluntary because of parental interference, and has passed on several inquiries to assume other head coaching jobs. She would probably not be interested in the NDA job, but maybe her record of 2 regional titles and 2 regional runner-up finishes in her last 8 years from a school with less than half the female students as NDA looks pretty good.

It needs to be someone with ties to the feeder schools. Again, Dick Maile a perfect fit. McDonald would be a train wreck waiting to happen JMO.

Maile is not the answer - knows the game but does not know the kids. There are reasons why he does not coach at CCH, NDA, or Holy Cross anymore.

Doesn't know the kids? He's coached in the feeder school league so I'm sure he's well aware of the kids. Secondly, how long does it take to "know the kids" when it comes to talent? He'll figure out in a few practices who can play and who can't. That could be a plus. Sometimes coaches already have it in their mind who can play and who can't and miss kids that improve.
