Selig to let Rose back in?

Featured Replies

I would love to see Pete get in while my dad is still in good health to enjoy it. It frustrates him bad...myself too! The older I get the more I realize Pete hasn't done much to help his cause but he is still in the all time top of the tops to play the game!

Top 5 player of all time in your opinions? Top 10?

You think??? :D

He's an idiot - pure, plain, and simple. But he was also one of the greatest players of all-time (I could go with a Top 10 billing) and deserves to be considered for inclusion in the Hall. At this point in time, however, I am guessing he would not get enough votes to be selected. It will be very interesting to see some of the voting results when some of the well-known roid users become eligible. I think the backlash was evident with McGwire.

Unless he wears a Phillies hat on his plaque

I would give baseball up at that point...

Pete once said he'd, "Walk through hell in a gasoline suit to play baseball." Let's see if he wants the HOF as badly.

I think if they have HOF numbers, they all should get in. That includes Bonds, McGwire, Palmeiro, Clemens, etc. etc.

I sort of do too. It's not like you go into the HOF with a ranking, such as Barry Bonds is the 4th best player of all-time. If you have the numbers you should get in. The fans can argue about who's the best, IMO. Bonds, Clemens, Big Mac and others did some pretty amazing things despite the added advantages. Babe Ruth probably wouldn't be as well liked today. Should he be taken out of the HOF for being an overweight guy who (in)famously drank between innings? Apples to oranges, but I think some numbers cannot be ignored regardless of the public opinion on a player.

Pete Rose, obviously, should be in the HOF.

I thought he bet someone he could do it.....

Heard on ESPN radio that if he was aloud back on the ballot 49 out of 65 Hall of Famers would have to vote for him. That would be a big hill to climb.

That's what I'm thinking. Selig would allow him back in baseball to participate in ceremonies or attend certain events but probably knows that he will never get enough votes to get into the HOF. There only has to be 17 old guys to not vote for him.

The old guys should probably look in the mirror and see if they made mistakes off the field, as well.

To me if the ban is lifted the baseball is saying "you paid your dues". I think it should be a public vote if they don't let him in because I'd like to see the people that say no. It should be a lock if the ban is lifted IMO! If it's lifted and they don't leet him in then it will be another black eye for baseball IMO.

Baseball is going to need a cut doctor if they get many more black eyes

Now the report from Bud is that he never said that. I wish they would put a ban on him!

There's a bit of a leap from "ban on baseball is lifted" to "voted into the HOF."

I believe the thinking at one time was that Rose's induction was a given. But the longer he did things to distance himself from and thumb his nose at the Hall (like hawking autographs a few blocks away), the more difficult he made it for himself.
