What car should I buy

Featured Replies

Alright here is my problem, I have what looks like 3 options for me. I could go with a 06 Altima with 20,000 miles on it for about 15,100, but I could haggle him down to 13. I could get a 09/10 Sentra or 09/10 Corolla for about 17,600. The main thing I am worried about is gas. Basically me driving from Florida to KY about twice a year. All 3 have great gas mileage but the Sentra and Corolla are slightly smaller. What does everyone suggest? :idunno:

You can buy a used '06 Altima at Gates Nissan in Richmond for just under $12,000 right now. Saw the sign posted in front of the dealership today. If you don't live near Richmond, I would call them and see what they have to offer.

BTW, I would recommend the Altima. I have driven all three of the cars you mentioned (in fact I drive them almost every day) and I believe that you will be more pleased with an Altima. Yeah, you might lose a couple miles per gallon, but the driving experience will be better, especially if you're taking long trips.

Of all three, I list them in this order:

1) Altima

2) Corolla

3) Sentra

I have an 04 Maxima and I LOVE it, so my choice is the Altima. :thumb:

I suggest you get one from Mike Wilson's. That way I could bring it to you and you could fly me back home....:D

I just bought an 09 Focus for less than the price that you listed for the Corolla/Sentra and absolutely love it. 33 mpg average. The SYNC technology is a great bonus!

My previous vehicle was a Grand Am. In comparison, the front seating area is bigger, the back seating area smaller and the trunk space is awesome.

Ford currently has $2000 rebates or 0% financing (36 months) on the Focus.

I have an 05 Altima 5 speed. 30 bucks a fill up with 87 unleaded. I need to fill up about every 5-6 days but I drive 10 over the speed limit and drive 50 miles to work and back combined. I love the car but its loud on the highway.

I think I'd take the Altima, then Corolla then Sentra.

Aiden I appreciate the advice. I live absolutely nowhere close to KY, Florida to be exact. I will have to look into that though because my family lives in Winchester. Thanks for the advice guys, and no Gold you have to fly yourself home and pay for my gas on the car on the way down :thumb:

I love my Altima its just loud on the highway with the windows up and no radio. You can hear the engine growl.

Just don't buy an American car, regardless what that ridiculous Saturn commercial says.

I found this out the hard way, at a lot of dealerships now, cash gets you nothing. The salesmen get a spiff on financing, now.

I was looking at one at Dimmit Chevrolet on US-19 in Clearwater a month ago. It's a really good vehicle. Great ride, handles great, and has fantastic pickup for a 4 banger. Good gas mileage. Compared to the other cars I test drove (Camry, Accord, Fusion, Altima, Sonata), it was the best bang for the buck.

The Sonata was my least favorite. It rode like a chuck wagon and my lawn mower has better pickup, but it got great mileage.

Now that I've said all of that, I drive a 99 Buick Le Sabre (68,000 miles). After test driving all of those cars, I determined my old friend was better than any one of them, gets 33 mpg highway, and it's paid off.
