So last night had to be the worst night of my life. I was coming home from my friend's graduation party at roughly one in the morning. He lives back a very winding road out in the middle of nowhere. I came around a bend, admittedly going faster than I should have, and with the wet road, lost control of the car, spun head first into a tree on the side of the road, and spun back into the middle of the road. My car looked like a cyclone had hit it. Literally, the front of the car was gone all the way back to the windshield. Somehow I walked away without a scratch. The cops who came said it was one of the worst looking accidents they'd seen, and that they had no idea how I was alive.

 

I'm still absolutely terrified about the whole thing, and it feels really surreal. I actually thought I was going to die when I lost control of the car. Someone was looking out for me from above.

Agreed, you are very lucky. I am glad you are ok. I worked an accident Saturday morning at about 5 A.M. in which 2 teenage boys were also lucky to survive. They went around a curve too fast, lost control and took out a mailbox, a carport, a parked minivan, and came to rest under the van and against a house.

 

Thank God tonight for your good fortune. He was watching out for you, my friend.

My first semester of college about five years ago, I was driving home from EKU back to my Pike County home. I always went through Irvine to hit the parkway, instead of Winchester (which was better road but longer drive). Anyone familiar with Salem Hill Curve right before the Powell County line knows it is nothing to mess with. It had just started raining that day and I was doing roughly forty to forty five miles an hour. My car started a slide into the other lane once I entered the curve and there was nothing I could do to stop it. Next thing I know there comes another car around the curve (everything seemed to be slow motion and so erie quiet) and I hit it left front to right front. Next I go back to my side of the road, hit the ditch line, sideways, and being that I hit it sideways, it sent me barrel rolling three times down the hill until finally I end up on my top in the ditch. With adrenalin pumping I was probably out of the car in less than five seconds. The whole time I was crashing though felt like an eternity and like I said it seemed so quiet. My roommate who was driving a car ahead of me saw the wreck in his rear view, had pulled the e brake and parked in the middle of the road sideways (literally half and half in terms of over the yellow line) and was running back up the hill as hard as he could and when he got to me he had tears in his eyes saying he knew he had just watched his best friend die. That was also the first day ever that I had wore my seat belt, and for some reason something had came over me five minutes before when I was leaving the gas station in Waco. If i hadn't wore it I would have been dead because it kept me in place. Nobody was hurt, and my car was shredded. The whole tire fixture (wheel, axel, everything) was thrown about fifty yards from the wreck. My cd player that was mounted in the dash was laying in the road like twenty yards down the road, and scattered was everything from my back seat (dirty clothes, suitcase, books, etc.) Everyone was amazed I was okay. I still think back about that wreck and it gives me chills, then I thank God I am alive.

 

 

So Mustang, if anyone feels you, I feel you and thank God you are okay. Just know he was watching out for you the same he was for me, and just let this be a wake up call for you. From that point on I have wore my seat belt everytime I get into a vehicle. Plus, don't feel bad if you are intimidated to drive for a while. I literally was scared to drive for at least a month after the incident. It was truly a wake up call that anything can happen in a blink when your behind the wheel, and I hate that something similar happened to you. I wouldn't wish that on nobody, but I am glad you are okay. So like I said, if anybody feels ya, I feel ya. You and I both seem to be very lucky individuals.

Thank God you are alright. Hopefully you will learn to slown down, and not get in a hurry after this horrific accident.
