Should Vick Be Allowed to Play?

Featured Replies

Trent Dilfer had a great winning percentage with Baltimore.

Yeah, but he was awful at Tampa and everywhere else he went. Where was Vick awful at?

When he played Atlanta won and they won because of him. Baltimore won because of their defense. I guess you are going to say that Joe Flacco was the reason behind Baltimore's success last year.

Yes he should be able to play, he's paid his dues...

I'm a great singer if you can overlook my voice.

Vick won. Have you won any singing contest lately.

No, he wasn't..

Ah, yeah, yeah he was. With the Old Vick I would only take a very few QB's over him. He made up for what he lacked as a passer, which is ability to run and improvise.

Watch the game. You don't need to wait until after the game to check stats to see that Vick is an "average at best" NFL qb.

Average at best. You have to be joking. Someone will eventually be a better passer than Manning or Brady. I doubt we will ever see a QB with the unique skills Vick had. Average QB's don't take the Falcons to the NFC Championship. Average QB's don't complete low percentages of passes and still win.

How many NFL defenses do you think looked at Vick when he was playing and said he's a below average QB? I'll tell you none! They were scared to death.

But, I guess if you don't sit in the pocket and throw slants you're no good. I think he was a better QB than McNabb. They really have about the same passing attributes.

And before you kill me with stats, no something about the offenses the two were in. McNabb's passing stats are higher because of the West Coast on steroids offense they run. He makes alot of short passes, timing passes, mixed in with the OC calling a timely deep ball or two. They have a very creative offense, and it makes it easy for him to complete more passes. If you break down film of McNabb he is really not a great passer, especially by NFL standards. His mechanics are lacking, and the precision is not there. But, due to the offensive scheme, his athleticism, and the players around him fitting the system so well he is able to win games. McNabb is an excellent player because he wins, but as far as QB skills he really isn't much better than Vick.

Vick didn't need a high completion percentage and really didn't have the offensive scheme for a somewhat raw passer to thrive in. The Falcons when he was there, ran the ball on 1st and 2nd down, and then if they needed yards on 3rd would pass. They had a great running game and it worked, but that strategy isn't going to be kind to young, raw QB's completion percentages. If you get in 3rd and 8 in the NFL you aren't going to complete very many passes.

Vick not being a good QB is garbage.

Maybe now. A few years ago I think it was clear that he was above average. Correct me if I am wrong, but, wasn't Vick the only QB to beat Brett Favre at Lambeau with the temp. being under the freeze point? and being a playoff game? I don't think an average at best quarterback could have done this, especially one without much help. Vick was top ten the entire time he was in the league, no doubt.

Completely agree.

He also had some great defenses around him. Vick really didn't.

ABSOLUTELY YES! What is jail time meant for? It's to pay the time you deserve for breaking a law. He broke the law, he did his time. He shouldn't be punished any longer.

I think He should be given a second Chance...

What is the Difference in Vick and Pete Rose?

I know this is a different Sport and Thread...Sorry...

But Pete did serve his time...And is still not allowed back in baseball...

There are players that have been convicted of vehicular manslaughter still in the league.

So yes he should be allowed back.

Yep . Just shouldn' be allowed to own dogs anymore .

I think He should be given a second Chance...

There is a HUGE difference, IMO...

We need a poll, just to see who will say no. I say, let him play...

There is a HUGE difference, IMO...

Not to speak for AA, but I think his point is that Vick's crime is less severe than Pete Rose's.

I don't see any point keeping him out of the game. He served his time, and that's the bottom line.

Leonard Little killed an actual person, not a dog, and has enjoyed an 11-year career. Keep in mind I love dogs.

If anyone should be allowed back in the league it should be Vick. He has served over two years of federal prison time and thats more than what CJ, Pacman, Jamal, Tank, any of those guys can say. In fact he should even be able to come back suspension free being he has served enough time IMO.

I believe he should be allowed to play, but what in the world has Chad Johnson, (who I'm assuming you're talking about with "CJ") done to warrant being in the discussion?

My thoughts exactly. He won't come back and have to sit out. If they were going to do that they just won't let him back yet. Getting with guys like Dungy was a great move! He's paid his dues for less than a lot of the guys in the NFL have done IMO. The media made it a circus.
