Limbaugh is playing Powell like a fiddle. When will people learn that he eats this kind of stuff up. I also have to wonder if Powell is in cahoots with the administration as it's their game plan to keep Limbaugh at the top of the news.

I disagree. While I respect Powell as a man and his personal accomplishments, I believe as a moderate politician his compromise on several issues that in my opinion he should have been uncompromising on make him appear spineless and ineffective.

 

A gentleman does not resort to personal attacks in the media, but instead settles issues privately and face-to-face. That means that neither Rush nor Powell are gentleman. I also whole heartedly disagree with the post about honesty about the issues. Rush I believe is bluntly and brutally honest, and people don't like that he is right. He is an arrogant horses butt in the way is says it, but most of the time he is right.

I agree with Powell in re Rush, but I don't think I'd have voted for him as President. It's nothing I can put my finger on. Maybe it's just because he was Army.

Seems like he basically has. Seems like he through his support to Obama in the election and is atacking conservatives. He also seems to have changed his opinion on big government. I don't know the quote exactly but it was something like:

 

"Americans have shown that they want more government, and their willing to pay for it."

 

My response to that would be that the people paying for it don't want more of it, but the people NOT paying for it do.

It just seems that any Republican that says something in agreement with Obama is asked by Limbaugh to leave the party. For me, I have a hard time labeling myself as a Democrat or Republican because I don't agree with all of the views of either party. Which is why when someone who has been a Republican for many years, such as Powell, wholeheartedly supports a candidate from a party with (somewhat) opposite views, it means that he doesn't agree with the stances of his own party.

So no I don't think it is wrong and I don't think I have to follow lock step with everything anyone says. Best I can recall, when I registered as a Republican I wasn't required to sign a document that obligated me to only vote for Republicans.

Rush is far more influential in Republican circles than Jesse Jackson or Al Sharpton are on the other side.
