9th region

Bryan is a good scorer. There is not doubt about that. He is also a decent player. I dont know that he is a superstar PG, but he does what a SG is supposed to do and that is score. I dont know that he is top 10 in the region. Maybe top 10 in the guard category.

Bryan isn't one of the best all around players in the region.

He is one of the better offensive players, but I still wouldn't consider him top 10. He is forced to score the way he does because his team isn't very good, hence the amount of shots he takes per game to get his numbers.

Yeah. I agree.

Always hard to rank kids, but I think there are at least 15 to 20 in the 9th region as good or better.

I totally agree with you. When they are getting beat badly they take out all the starters except Bryan. Then he is doing some of his scoring against the other teams bench players.

I think we will see the emergence of Pohlgeers at BW and by the end of the year I think he'll be a D3 POY candidate.

Does the top scorer in the state last year not even get mentioned in his own region as far as a top 10 player? That's a shame, after seeing him in aau considering most of you say Bryan only scores so much against his competition is dead wrong. Last weekend at sportsplus it looked as if he was averaging about 20-25 a game and with passes that were phenominal. This year he could average as much as he wants in his conference, but wouldn't have any problem putting 30-35 on any team in the region. I also saw him up at UC and he did an amazing job stopping Justice from Shelby Co., and he's thought to be the best in the state. Without a doubt the kid can score and everyone knows that by now, but looking at his aau game from "better competition" not much has changed.

I would have to agree with some of your points. This kid can flat out play!! He won't get the credit because he is from a D3 school. That shouldn't matter but it will in some people's eyes. All defenses were set up to stop him and he stilled scored a ton this past year. But I don't think he will score 30 -35 at will in his conference next year because again teams, if they are smart, will run defenses to limit his touches. With that said, he will have a great year. If a school (College) takes a go at him (Which they should) it will be outside the area because local people will say, "Who does he play against" This is extremely similar to The Grove a couple of years ago when they had "Corey Pelle" and most were saying the same about him. But West Liberty State is awful happy other schools did because he is tearing it up!! I feel Bryant can do the same at the next level. He is the real deal!!!

You act as though this is personal against Bryan. It's not. Bryan is a great scorer. But, most people think that he doesnt play defense as well as he could. He also scores a lot because he shoots the ball a lot, and Villa only had one other scorer in Schuh. Not to mention, He doesnt have to play the likes of Ryle, Conner, Scott, Holmes, Holy Cross, Cov Cath, NCC (one of the better smaller schools), and Boone County night in, and night out. Or the teams down south such as Lex. Cath, Scott County, GRC & so on/so forth.

Blake is a very nice player in the division he plays in. Heck, no one else is doing it like him. Kudos to him. But, when you talk about the 9th region area, it's hard to consider him one of the "best" players when he doesnt play the best teams on a regular basis.

Interesting stat: He scored over 30 points in 14 games last season. Villa only won 5 of those games. It's worth mentioning.

I dont think the argument is necessarily against Bryan as a player or person, but Bryan in the 9th region area compared to other players.

You can't compare Corey Pelle against Bryan because there is no comparison. Pelle was/is a much better player then Bryan is or will be. I think you will find most people with any basketball knowledge would agree with the above statement.

Corey Pelle shot over 55% from the field his senior year. He was a complete player that could score, rebound, pass and defend. I am pretty sure that Corey led the conference he plays in assists this past season. He averaged 17.4 points per game, 5.6 assist per game, 3.9 rebounds per game and had 87 steals in 30 games at West Liberty this past season. Blake is a good player but no where near the class of Corey Pelle. Blake is very one dimensional in my opinion. Pelle was much more athletic and one of the better defenders in Northern Kentucky.

Considering Romes did not guard Bryan at any point during the game, that was not the factor. Bwood triple teamed Bryan and left Romes and their big guy in the paint no other team did that throughout the year. That was the only team that did something like that and was the only team to have success at "stopping" Bryan. But if any other kid in the state has 15 pts it was considered a great game?

Triple teamed...Now thats hilarious.

With the top 3 being Holmes, Boone County and Highlands.

The next 3 to 5 might be a crapshoot.

Ryle has Stauffer, Coleman and Mcleish to lead the way I think. Then they have Perkins returning and Todd Vollet, who I think will make good contributions to the team this year. Vollet will surprise a few people I think. Not sure if Nichols will play, but if he does that is anothe big body.

Dixie has Trammel, Pike, and Hatton leading the way IMO. But, they also have a big hustle guy in Riley and Wes Smith is a big body in the paint to bang with other bigs. They should be solid.

Conner has Avery who I think will probably lead them in Scoring. But they have Clay Robinson in the middle who likes physical contact. They also have Tyler Hodges who is an inside/outside guy, and Jake Flesch who I think will be able to defend just about anybody at the 1 or 2 in the 9th region, plus he can score when needed. Liechty adds good hustle and defense as well.

Scott has Kellen Smith coming back for his junior season and he should be a big contributor and distributor. I think Scott will go as he goes. He will have the big man O'Connor in the paint as well. They will need some others to step up, but they could make a little noise.

NCC will be solid, because they have a decent guard in Pangallo, and Meyer who will be expected to step up. And, they have a very solid big man in Geisler in the post.

Does anyone know how Holy Cross, Campbell County, and Simon Kenton are looking. I think SK will have another down year.

Are we talking 9th region or NKY?

Primarily NKY

I think the thread title was 9th region though...
