April 28, 200917 yr Okay so I'm looking for a very small dog. I was wanting a Yorkie, but I don't like when they get older and have all that hair. I want something that looks and stays kind of what like a Yorkie pup looks like. I was thinking about a teacup chihuahua, but I just don't know. Does anyone have any ideas or suggestions?
April 28, 200917 yr We bought a minature Poodle / Cairn Terrier around Christmas. She does not shed and very easy to potty train. The only thing she chews on is the roll of toilet paper when we leave the bathroom door open.
April 28, 200917 yr Pugs are good. We have had very good luck with minature dauschunds. This is my daughter's dog when it was a puppy and now.

Yorkies are fantastic pets. Long hair is taken care of with occasional grooming. Go with a Yorkie, you won't be disappointed.:thumb:
April 28, 200917 yr We have a Shih Tzu Poodle mix. About 7 pounds and just now a year old. Very intelligent and acrobatic little dog.
April 28, 200917 yr We had a Yorkie when I was little and she was very territorial. She did awful around kids and only wanted my mom. We got her when she was a puppy too. I am surenthey are not all like that though.
April 28, 200917 yr Anyone know much about chihuahuas? IMO, I don't like Yorkies or Silkies, just don't. Chihuahuas HATE the cold, so you have to put sweaters on them during the winter. I have met some Chihuahuas that were cool, and others that were skiddish and quick to yap/bite. I've had two pugs and they're a lot of dog in a small package. When we go to the dog park (weekly or twice a week) we let our Pug go in the "big dog" park because he likes to run and play with them more so than the other small dogs. Some not so good things about Pugs - they shed, even though they are short-haired, they shed like crazy twice a year and though the shedding decreases during the other times, they still shed. Better have a vacuum and a lint roller. Also, if you're going to get a Pug puppy, they're cute as heck, but Pugs tend to act "puppy-like" for about 2 years. After they've matured, they calm down a lot and sleep A LOT. Some pugs sleep up to 14 hours a day. Pugs make great apartments dogs but they do not like very hot weather or very cold weather. Pugs are very affectionate once they've matured (and males are more affectionate after getting fixed). Pugs are extremely well-behaved around children and other dogs. Pugs are also good watch dogs. Pugs require very little grooming, but most need their nose wrinkles cleaned often (it depends on the pug, some require wrinkle cleaning daily, others weekly, or monthly). Pugs are also subject to Pug Dog Encephalitis (a brain disease that only pugs contract). PDE only effects a small percentage of pugs, but it usually strikes around age 2 or 3, and is always deadly. Pugs also have the tendency to snore.
April 29, 200917 yr Short Haired Mini-Dachshund! :thumb: Honestly, the best dog a person can buy. I like bigger animals, but for some reason the miniature weiner has always been my favorite.
April 29, 200917 yr We've had our Boston for about two months, and we absolutely adore her. They are very friendly dogs, and plus no shedding.
April 29, 200917 yr Author We are getting a Shorkie.. He is adorable.. Is this a mix between a Yorkie and a Shih tzu?
April 29, 200917 yr Is this a mix between a Yorkie and a Shih tzu? Yes sir. I haven't done enough research on it yet, but my cousin wanted one like crazy a few months ago and had nothing but good to say about them.
