April 23, 200917 yr Cueto could probably win the Cy Young if he pitched every game in Wrigley with the wind blowing in. He wasn't afraid to challenge tonight. He didn't nibble like he does lots of times, and it shows with 0 walks. Hopefully this will increase his confidence. All he needs to do to become a big winner is quit giving up the long ball. I've said all along that the homerun is his one downfall. Hopefully, he gets by that, he's got great stuff.
April 23, 200917 yr Author That's for you LRCW... Adam Rosales (Louisville) last night at Columbus went 1-for-4 with a run scored...he’s hit safely 10 of his first 11 games this season (14-39, .359, 4hr, 10rbi, .718slg). Rosales went 4-5 tonight against Columbus raising his average to .409
April 23, 200917 yr Just a little FYI, I think I saw that Baldeilli went on the DL today for the Soxs.
April 23, 200917 yr I think Phillips is better suited for the 2 hole hitting in front of Votto. Actually my lineup would look like this. Taveras Phillips Bruce Votto Encarnacion Dickerson Hernandez Gonzalez That's the exact lineup I rattled off tonight during the game. I'm with you about Edwin. It's time for him to start putting up or move on. Good to see the Reds find ways to get on base tonight. I like what I see out of the lineup. There's no way that some of these guys keep hitting under .200. Can the pitching hold up?
April 23, 200917 yr Not even close to a fair comparison IMO. I'm not that against it but no way Dusty ever does it. It makes more sense to have BP in there IMO. His career numbers don't lie. He hits best in that a spot and I see no reason to think he won't come around sooner than later. He also has had more at bats in the 4 spot, so means more opporunities to bring the numbers back up if he was slumping for a period of time. While some of the other spots he might have just been in a slump when he went to that spot, and not as many opportunities to bring the average back up. I know they mentioned the 5 slot that his average was only 4 points lower. It would be nice to see what his average is in all the spots he has batted.
April 23, 200917 yr Rosales hasn't been given a chance to show what he can do. He's got a very hot bat at Louisville right now. I've been as big as a supporter that E-5 has had the past two or three years, but the guy needs to start hitting. When the Reds sent E-5 down a couple of years ago, he came back up and was one of their most productive hitters the rest of the year. The Reds can't keep running 4 sub .200 guys out there everyday and expect to win. Sounds a lot like a guy who is the backup shortstop. It's a matter of time before Rosales gets brought up. I think E-5 needs some type of motivation as well. Bench him. Put Janish in at 3rd for a game or two, if that is what it takes. Edwin is "supposed" to be one of the biggest contributors to this team, right? He's not going after ground balls in the hole. You could tell Gonzalex was disappointed about him not going after at least 1 ball. He looks apathetic at the plate & in the field.
April 23, 200917 yr I agree. I've been very pleased with the job Taveras as done so far. He's done a good job of working the pitcher. His OBP is near .400. I don't know if he'll be able to keep it up, but he is definitely their option at the top of the order. :thumb: I hate the fact that Dusty is obsessed with breaking apart the lefties. If this team is going to contend, I think your best lineup is Votto in the 3-hole & Bruce in the 4, Phillips at the 5.
April 23, 200917 yr Just a little FYI, I think I saw that Baldeilli went on the DL today for the Soxs. Yep, hamstring, placed on the DL on the 21st. Hopefully, he'll be back in a couple of weeks. Meanwhile Carter and Bailey will get some at bats. Bailey had a 3 run homer tonight.
April 23, 200917 yr Diamond seats Saturday afternoon!!:dancingpa:banana::dancingpa Got an extra ticket?

Considering Votto hits lefties as well as he does, I don't understand either.
