April 23, 200917 yr Why can't you? Bad strategy in my opinion, allows the opposing manager to send a lefty out of the bullpen without the consequence of facing a right-hander in the middle of the two.
April 23, 200917 yr Great win for the Reds, shutout baseball, nice. Lilly was pitching pretty well and to get the win is big in a game like that. (or frankly any game, but you get the point)

Victorino is switch hitter and he hits in front of them.

April 23, 200917 yr Great game by Cueto. I've drafted him the last 2 years in fantasy--hopefully it pays off this season.
April 23, 200917 yr Doesn't seem to hurt the Phillies too much with Utley and Howard. Not even close to a fair comparison IMO. I'm not that against it but no way Dusty ever does it. It makes more sense to have BP in there IMO. His career numbers don't lie. He hits best in that a spot and I see no reason to think he won't come around sooner than later.

Bruce and Votto obviously aren't as established as Howard and Utley, but Votto has shown that he can hit lefties as well as righties. I think Bruce will too as he matures. I don't think it would be a problem at all hitting them back to back.

Cueto could probably win the Cy Young if he pitched every game in Wrigley with the wind blowing in. He wasn't afraid to challenge tonight. He didn't nibble like he does lots of times, and it shows with 0 walks. Hopefully this will increase his confidence.

I don't think it would be a problem at all hitting them back to back. In the end you are making it easier on the opposing team hitting your two lefties back-to-back. When Bruce starts hitting lefties with consistency then, maybe, but still I would put a right-handed bat in there. Is Phillips or Encarnacion the best options there, no, but they are the best options the Reds have at this point. :idunno:

Volquez and Cueto will be much more effective when they throw strikes consistently.
April 23, 200917 yr Bruce struggles against lefties big time, teams would pitch around Votto more than they do now if Bruce was hitting behind him and they had a lefty on the mound.
