Track the Reds (Week 3)

Bruce struggles against lefties big time, teams would pitch around Votto more than they do now if Bruce was hitting behind him and they had a lefty on the mound.

I don't see much difference in Bruce, and the way our righties our hitting now. I just think moving Phillips up to the #2 hitter in front of Votto right now would really get him going. If it does, then you can move him back to #4.

Dickerson is probably the Reds' best leadoff option against righties. I think Phillips fits better in fifth or sixth.

Somebody want to tell Piecoro that getting to a team early and often doesn't mean one run through seven innings?

I think Dickerson strikes out too much to hit leadoff.

How can you say you want someone else at leadoff at this point? Tavares has done a pretty good job so far IMO.

I agree. I've been very pleased with the job Taveras as done so far. He's done a good job of working the pitcher. His OBP is near .400. I don't know if he'll be able to keep it up, but he is definitely their option at the top of the order.

Should have traded for Mat Holliday in the off season and I would feel a lot better about this season.

That's for you LRCW... :D

Adam Rosales (Louisville) last night at Columbus went 1-for-4 with a run scored...he’s hit safely 10 of his first 11 games this season (14-39, .359, 4hr, 10rbi, .718slg).

Thanks. He's definitely swinging a hot bat, albeit at Triple A. I would like to see what he could do at the major league level given a chance. I think even moving him up, and sending Janish down (calm down FC) might make E-5 start hitting better, and give the Reds a better bat coming off the bench. :D

Why does it matter how much he strikes out, as long as he gets on base? And right now, he's doing that.

Sure, Taveras has had a good two weeks, but this still a guy with a career OBP in the .330s ... far from ideal for a leadoff man. He can still hit second against righties and be the leadoff guy against lefties, with Hairston hitting second until something better comes along.

Is the game on WGN tomorrow?

I don't think so. I think it's on Chicago Sportscast. You're welcome to drop over, and watch it on my dish. :D

I don't really see much use for Janish anyways. Days Gonzo needs off you can get Hairston at SS and get Dickerson sometime in RF.

I will be at school anyway, I guess I will just have to gamecast it. Thanks though. :D

I definitely think Rosales would have made the club over Janish coming out of spring training if the Reds weren't still a little concerned about Gonzalez. I wouldn't be surprised to see those two flip flop in the near future.
