April 23, 200917 yr Do we need to bump Cueto up the order too now? I didn't hear much about Owings going 0-2 with 2ks last night. :walk: Kind of a cheap shot there. He should still hit 7th when he's on the hill. Phillips went 0-2 or worse for a whole road trip and he still hit 4th until game 9 of the trip.
April 23, 200917 yr I think Phillips is better suited for the 2 hole hitting in front of Votto. Actually my lineup would look like this. Taveras Phillips Bruce Votto Encarnacion Dickerson Hernandez Gonzalez Phillips might be better suited for the 2 hole if they had a 4 hitter that was right handed. They do not. Dickerson is nice in the 2 hole and Hairston isn't a bad option either. BP is the best 4 hitter they have. That isn't good, but he's still the best. You think he hits .270. If he does that he should hit 4th.

I think moving him up to the #2 spot, hitting in front of Votto, and hopefully with Taveras on base, would give him the best shot at getting untracked. He should get a lot of good pitches, and fastballs at that, in that type of scenario.

Since these are the current leftfield platoon's statistics: Reds leftfielders: Avg .192, 2 HR, 6 RBI, 8 BB, 8 Ks, 9 Runs, OBP .295, 2 Errors, 0 SBs and they have been occupying the #2 hole. I see no reason not to try Phillips there to see if he can take advantage of Votto's hot hitting--Dickerson and Hairston certainly aren't.

Dickerson's OBP is in the .360s, so at least he's getting on base ... Hairston is dragging down the offense, as expected. Reds fans jumped way too much on last year's hot streak.

Before the injury he was putting to much pressure on himself and lunging at balls. If he hits 4th does it raise his pressure level? Phillips needs to understand that the new philosiphy isn't hitting a 10 run HR every time he's up. I think he would take instruction better than Bruce right now b/c of his experience.
April 23, 200917 yr I don't think so. I think it's on Chicago Sportscast. You're welcome to drop over, and watch it on my dish. DirecTv or Dish network?

April 23, 200917 yr They also have their ace. Yeah, but we only get 3 or 4 hits a game. Facing an ace can't make us that much worse off.
