April 20, 200917 yr To continue the Owings debate: I think he should play in the field if he is truly this good of a hitter. The Reds actually have pitching depth for once, not to say he shouldn't pitch on his days, but he appears to be to good of a hitter to sit in my opinion.

April 20, 200917 yr The max games Owings can play in the field is 2 a week I think. Not the game after or before his starts. I like the role he is in now. I think he will surely be used as the DH a lot in inter league play.

There were four occasions where a team elected not to start a designated hitter in an American League ballgame. The pitchers for those games were Ferguson Jenkins on October 2, 1974 for the Texas Rangers at Minnesota,[2] Ken Holtzman for the Oakland A's against the California Angels on September 27, 1975, [3] Ken Brett for the Chicago White Sox on July 6, 1976 at the Boston Red Sox,[4] and Brett again on September 23, 1976 for Chicago against the Twins.[5] I don't see the Reds using a DH when Owings pitches during inter league play.
