Track the Reds (Week 3)

Featured Replies

Couldn't agree more, to be good you must beat the bottome feeders. The Reds would have had a much shorter playoff drought stat if they could have beaten the Brewers in '99.

Or the Mets:irked:

I think the year and a half experiment with Brandon Phillips as clean up needs to end. IMO if it doesn't we may have seen the best days for Phillips as a hitter. He no longer seems to be a contact hitter. In the 4 hole his speed is a waste. He's never gonna bunt batting 4th. He has walked more but he's still swinging for the fences.

Who batted clean up for Louisville when Votto & Bruce were there?

They don't have a 4 hitter currently so he's where he should be. I agree that he isn't a 4 hitter, but he's their best option.

The max games Owings can play in the field is 2 a week I think. Not the game after or before his starts. I like the role he is in now. I think he will surely be used as the DH a lot in inter league play.

He should bat 7th tomorrow.

Under MLB rules, you can only DH for a pitcher, right?

I'm not sure but it wouldn't matter. If a lefty is throwing he should DH for the pitcher. If he's pitching they won't use a DH for him.

Correct.

It looks as if Arroyo not only has a personal catcher this year, but a personal SS also.

The Reds .210 batting avg. is the lowest in the ML. Not good.

I haven't did the math, but if you take out Alex G. then it would have to go up at least a bit. Not to mention Phillips is hitting terribly as well.

Thought Bruce was supposed to be back tonight?

That makes their 6-5 start a little more encouraging. While I don't feel the Reds are going to be a great, or even good hitting club, I do fully expect them to hit better than they have been.

I think we all could be witnessing history this year....The Reds have possibly assembled the worst offensive team in the history of Major League Baseball.

I'll take this year's offensive team over the 1983 Reds any day.

Against a lefty, probably better to come off the bench tonight.
