April 6, 200917 yr I think DB is saving his better pitch hitters for the late innnings.Who are they?
April 6, 200917 yr 2-1 Mets in the bottom of the 8th. Putz has 2 outs, but the Reds have a man on 1st with BP at the plate.
April 6, 200917 yr Author Update? 2-1 Mets, bottom of the 8th. Dickerson on 1st, 2 out, Phillips at the plate.
April 6, 200917 yr This team is going to struggle to score runs all season long....The pitching will need to be well above average for them to have any chance.
April 6, 200917 yr This team is going to struggle to score runs all season long....The pitching will need to be well above average for them to have any chance. It looks that way.
April 6, 200917 yr As creepy as Welsh looks with his pornstache, he looks even more weird without it.
April 6, 200917 yr Because unless he is hurt he will stick with the club all year long. Perhaps I'm "misremembering" (thanks Roger), but wasn't this the guy you didn't think would be the 5th starter and possibly not make the rotation?
April 6, 200917 yr Too darned many pitches for Harang, but I'm liking the new, less-fat Harang. Today's outing was encouraging.
April 6, 200917 yr Author Perhaps I'm "misremembering" (thanks Roger), but wasn't this the guy you didn't think would be the 5th starter and possibly not make the rotation? I may have predicted Bailey to make the rotation over Owings, I honestly don't remember, but there was never any doubt in mind that Owings would either be the 5th man, or pitch out of the bullpen.
April 6, 200917 yr Too darned many pitches for Harang, but I'm liking the new, less-fat Harang. Today's outing was encouraging. The runs allowed was encouraging but with 10 baserunners allowed in 5 innings was it that good of an outing? Only 2 Ks and a WHIP of 2.00 could be a recipie for disaster in warmer weather.

The baserunners allowed was a combination of poor defense, a couple of infield hits, and a bloop hit. The Mets only hit the ball hard a couple of times off Harang.
