Glad to get the win today and move to 2-3. Hopefully a good stretch is ahead.

Just got back from the stadium and a few quick thoughts.

1. If Harang pitches like he did today, or at least close to it, for the rest of the year he should pick up 20 wins.

2. Hernandez and Gonzalez do not need to be in a major league lineup.

3. It looks like Bruce is pressing at the plate.

4. Taveras needs to get a better read on the ball in center. No way that ball should have dropped for a double to start the game.

5. Gutsy call on the hit and run in the 8th but unfortunately Edwin tried to pull the ball in the gap instead of getting it on the ground to move the runners resulting in the triple play.

Nice win, and only one positive? Gonzo is the only problem I see at this point and time. Bruce will be fine, as will Taveras.

I never said Bruce or Taveras wouldn't be fine. I merely posted observations of today.

I understand your concern. Hernandez is gonna be more of a pop guy like a Mike Napoli. There hoping to get 20 HR's outta him but expect him to hit .255. I am also concerned about A-Gon, he has been outta baseball for a while and rusty.

Man, it seems Harang shut up more than just the Pirates.

If the Reds are to make a run this season, they will need alot more of that today.(Pitching).

This upcoming 10 game road trip should give a small indication on how this season may go. Two areas the Reds really need to improve on, are winning on the road and beating Teams in their division. I'll be happy with a .500 road trip.

A .500 road trip would be fine with me.

Great start by Harang today, hopefully this is a sign of things to come. Or maybe it is a sign the Pirates stink, who knows. Volquez tomorrow, lets get a winning streak going.

That is all we can ask of this young team this early in the year.

And yet from all the experts, because they are a young team, they say the Reds have to start out with a great start and .500 may not be it.

Very nice win for the Reds today, nice to see the strong outing by Harang also.:thumb:
