March 31, 200917 yr I was a big Tubby supporter, of course he didn't get the best recruits in the country-not even Tayshaun was highly rated.I've read this claim more than once on BGP, and my reply is simple ... bull. On Hoop Scoop's website, Prince was rated as the #8 prospect in the class of 1998.
March 31, 200917 yr I root for UK. Grew up listening to Cawood and kept a scrapbook from their 1978 championship season. I have more UK clothing than any other college and watch them on the tube more than any other college. But it's been hard to remain a UK fan in the past decade because of the fan base. It was funny listening to people call into the coach's show and ask if Richie Farmer was going pro. Until you realized they were serious. Fans who didn't want Calipari here two years ago suddenly think he is the second coming of Roy Williams. Fans who were on the BCG bandwagon in 2007 were among the first to call for his outster in 2009. It's hard to remain a fan when you have to wade through the nonsense on here from people who claim to be UK fans. I'm not questioning their allegiance. Just their practicality of the situation. UK fans couldn't wait to get rid of Tubby because he couldn't recruit among other things. UK fans hailed Gillispie and his recruiting prowess. Yet when you go back through the recruiting threads and read them, it seems like BCG whiffed on a lot of recruits that had UK among their top 3-5 teams. Orten and possibly Patterson are the only two big-time recruits BCG landed, although many feel Patterson would have played for Tubby had he stayed in Lexington. He landed another Jared Carter in Dakota Euton and others who STILL aren't among the tops in their classes. But that's what UK wanted. There were people on here in November and December claiming this was a Final Four team. Simply laughable. It's the same way being a fan of the Cubs. The delusional ones make it tough to respect the legitimate ones. My brother in Dallas says people in Texas are laughing their tales off at how the Gillispie/UK situation played out. A big fat "I told you so." They say UK fans got what they deserve. Of course, no one in Kentucky thinks that because the fans are too busy wearing the blue and white glasses. As far as the avatar goes, maybe it should have been a picture of people piling on a big pile. Today's UK fans have gotten good at that. I simply chose the bandwagon since Uk is close to hiring a coach that two years ago, nobody on here wanted. Apparently, there is still plenty of room on the bandwagon. While I generally agree with your post, there were some folks on here (including me) that wanted Cal two years ago. Having said that, if he decides not to come, we'll move on and be just fine. We'll get a good coach, maybe not one that will take us to the FF, but hey it's just college basketball. It's not life and death.....................................................like high school football is.
March 31, 200917 yr I'm with you LN Cal was my first choice last time. But I was fine with BG too, for the record. I preferred Cal, but thought BG was a fine second choice.
March 31, 200917 yr Not a Tubby guy, won with Pitino's kids after that average at best. Get Calipari and we will:thumb: be back on top.
March 31, 200917 yr Does Cal open the door for the One - N- Done, Tattooed thug? This is something that UK has been able to avoid over the years. When you lay with dogs.... SCRIBE, I agree with everything that you said. I could no longer outwardly support UK several years ago. If I wore Blue and White, I would get caught in a moronic conversation with some Cat Fan, that would just ramble. That is not me. 95% of the stuff I have read here is counter productive diatribe. Go Cats, Get a good coach, Don't Sell your SOUL!
March 31, 200917 yr If you want to really hear some delusional UK fans, listen to the local cal in show in Hazard. I have heard some good things over the past few years. Talk about a comedian's goldmine of material. :sssh:

Go Cats, Get a good coach, Don't Sell your SOUL! why are tattoos synonymous with thuggery? I have 6 tattoos and have never once been any kind of activity that would be suiting of being deemed a thug.

Unfortunately because people are just that people and they have a tendency to often prejudge people because of their appearance. People see bad guys on tv wearing tatoos and assume the worse when they experience people with tatoos. People will laugh at this but I think part of the problem some people have with Calipari is his shiny hair appearance and his Italian name. They are watching too many Soprano episodes.

I agree, I think people are quick to judge him as a slimeball because he gets such good recruits as well, eventhough he's never been investigated for improper recruiting practices. The Marcus Camby incident had nothing to do with Cal, he contacted an agent while still in College.
