Congrats to Holmes and good luck in the title game.

The Elliot boys have nothing to hang their heads about. They made the 16th region proud.

You must have been wearing the same red glasses the officals were wearing. :D

I believe the foul total was 8 to 3 in favor of Elliot Co midway through the fourth. When their definitely could have been more fouls called on Elliot in the 2nd half before that. I honestly believe for the most part that the officials did a pretty good job. They missed a few calls on both sides, but overall they did fairly well.

I agree. With all the arguing and jabbing we do at one another before a game, we are man enough (and women enough) to say congratulations to the both teams. Thats what this game is all about.:thumb:

I have to acknowledge all the banter from the fans from both schools. I believe this thread has shown thus far, that everyone was just supporting their team. This thread has been classy from both sides, and the matchup was interesting. Once again, congrats to Holmes, and best of luck tonight.

Heard Coach Mays say on the radio that he had coached his last game. Did they say anything else about this in the postgame interviews?

I don't think anyone was complaining about foul count, just the most obvious missed call of the game, T Knipp's 5th foul. I know it's part of the luck of the draw, but, EC had the toughest road to the finals and it played a huge roll in EC not having the legs on their open looks that they normally knock down. After Scott Co getting beat in region, Holmes had a much easier road to Saturday morning. Congrats to EC on a good season!!!

Congrats to the Bulldogs, hoping tonight you bring one home for all your fans in NKY.

I would like to say congrats to the EC players and coach's on a fine season. Good luck to the seniors on your future in basketball. A tremendous run for you guys. :thumb:

Is slightly better than Elliott. Holmes 67, Elliott County 58

How's that for a prediction. Off by one point.

Great game all around by Holmes. I thought Henley said it best when stated that "Holmes had a business-like approach" to this tournament. Bulldogs want to make history and I believe they will around 9pm tonight.

I beleive there was a reply that Holmes is the best thing since:

Thank you once again to Theoldguy for posting the official stats. Holmes really dominated

in several areas. Good Luck tonight.

:D:D:D

Proud of you Dawg81 for holding your fingers off the key board! Have fun tonight and I will be rooting on Holmes from in front of my TV...:thumb:

The reasons for EC loss was two fold.

First Holmes is a better team. This isn't a slam on EC, but just stating the facts.

Second, with only five players you aren't going to win games against tough opponents each time out over the course of just three days. Coach Mays deciding over the course of the last two years to consistently beat teams by larger numbers in liew of developing a bench, has hurt EC over the last two years. True, maybe the cupboard was bare beyond the starting five but most coaches would have been happy to sacrifice a 40pt win, for a 15pt win but in doing so develop some players that maybe could give him at least two to three minutes a half for his starters to get a blow.

EC five young men played tough and did a great job and they are indeed five outstanding players, but if they had had just two kids that EC could have counted on to come in from time to time, they instead of Holmes would be in the finals....

I said it at the LexCath Christmas tourney lat year (look it up if you don't believe me) you don't want to play EC in game one or game two of the sweet sixteen but in game three, when their legs get tired and tired legs affect their shots.

The fifth foul call on T. Knipp was the difference in the game. Elliott had cut the lead to four when Pittman walked on the spin move then Timmy blocks his shot and they call the foul on Timmy. If they make the right call Elliott wins the game IMO. Congrats to Elliott County on a great season and good luck to Central tonight.

There's no need to ruin a great game by whining about a ref's call being the difference. EC should be very proud. What a great story. The better team won. Congrats to the Dawgs! I hope they come out with fire tonight. Good luck to all of the fine young men from Sandy Hook going on to bigger and better things in life.

I am trying to keep him calm over here ha ha ha. Too bad you can't be at Rupp yourself tonight rooting for the 9th.

Great game by Elliott Co, keep your heads up and best of luck to all the seniors. Holmes, great game, but don't hang your hat on this one. One more win to complete the goal that you set out to complete and to get that sour taste out of our mouth from last season. Lets go Dawgs.
