Who did Elliott County lose to in the Sweet 16 two years ago? I know they lost to Mason County last year. I am just curious as to whether this could be three years in a row that they lost to the eventual state champion....that is if Holmes is able to win tonight.

My Z will have it and I think a Lexington station is going to show it as well.

Elliott beat Shelby Valley in the opening game two years ago, then lost to Warren Central in the second round.

Congrats to Holmes, you guys are the real deal. Also cograts to my Elliott County Lions for a great game and a wonderful four year ride. Before these boys Elliott only had only won one regional game in their history, and now they have given us three in a row. Nothing to hang your head about boys, we are all SO proud of you for what you have done for our little community. Good luck to Holmes and Central tonight in the championship game.

Elliott County has had a story book season and done things that not many teams have done, or will do. Elliott County has garnered support from not just the entire Sandy Hook community, but from the entire Eastern Kentucky region and most of the state. These men have traveled all over the state, and a big part of the Eastern United States over the last three years impressing people with their heart and athleticism. Right now, the players and fans are not thinking about that, but soon all will look back on all the accomplishments of these men and have fond memories and consider the fetes that they have accomplished astonishing.

 

Good luck to all of the Elliott County players in life after high school, no matter if that life consist of more basketball or not. Because, threw basketball, these young men have learned to be self-motivated, self-starters, accountable, lead, follow, work with other, to be gracious, and to be humble. Those traits are the things that student-athletes can take threw life, no matter if sports are part of their life after high school or not. These men will be more successful in life because of what they have experienced on the basketball court, in the locker room, and in practice.

 

Good luck to the Elliott County players, parents, fans, and coaches. One day soon the hurting will end but the memories will last.

The fifth foul call on T. Knipp was the difference in the game. Elliott had cut the lead to four when Pittman walked on the spin move then Timmy blocks his shot and they call the foul on Timmy. If they make the right call Elliott wins the game IMO. Congrats to Elliott County on a great season and good luck to Central tonight.

I disagree. Elliott had their chances. They had it to a 4 point lead, then Holmes turns it over on a traveling call. Elliot then turned the ball right back over when Johnson stole it from the point guard. Elliot had their chance right then and there. Holmes was the better team, and deserved to win. They made the plays when they had to.

You must have been wearing the same red glasses the officals were wearing.

I guess all the people from across the state that was getting on Holmes for only winning their regional final 32 to 29 are starting to realize what us NKY people were talking about. Holmes is a GREAT defensive team, and also could still run when they have to. The best thing to do against them is make it a slow half court game. That is why it was such a low scoring game against Boone. Boone did a great job making it a slow half court game.

 

I just hope Holmes can now bring home the state title to the 9th region tonight. They definitely deserve it.

 

Great season by Elliot Co. This is something that they definitely can look back on in the future and be proud of.
