Mason County makes it further than some expected, but the title reign is over as the Wildcats win their first Sweet 16 game in school history behind 22 points from Elisha Justice. Russ Middleton leads all scorers with 24 points, but the team only shoots 27.7% for the game.

The 15th Region gets a team into the quarters for the second straight year after eight years of one and dones. They may meet fellow mountain school Elliott County in an All A rematch.

15th region has done well over the past 2 years with Paintsville going to the final 4 in the All A and 2nd round of the Sweet 16 last year, and Valley winning the All A this year and winning their first game in the Sweet 16 ! Keep representing the mountains well Wildcats!

Congrats to both teams. Glad to see some new teams going deeper.

The SV/LC/Holmes side of the bracket is a killer. Elliot may join them later. You'd think whoever wins this side of the bracket, should win it all on Saturday nite. But the winner may be plum tuckered out.

This is what makes KY HS basketball so great.

SV is a very very good team. Justice is a fantastic ballplayer. He can crossover almost like no one I have seen locally in a long time.

Good luck to all the remaining teams.

Congrats to Shelby Valley on advancing to the quarters. Justice is the real deal; a VERY nice point guard.

Russ Middleton ends his fine career with a 24 point night, but only 20 from the rest of the team.

Congrats to the Royals on a great season; especially to seniors Midleton, Keith Downing, Ryan Hamm and Mandela Rice!
