March 5, 200917 yr . One note, Patterson says he doesn't want to play in the NIT. Your post is a bit misleading. Yes, Patterson said he didn't want to playing the NIT early in the interview, but he also said later in the interview that while he wants to play in the NCAA that if it came down to it that playing in the NIT would mean playing more games, and that he would want to do that.
March 5, 200917 yr There is a sound bite on the HL website. Not much going on. Sounds like just a weekly tele conference. One note, Patterson says he doesn't want to play in the NIT. Was that the conference?:eyeonyou:

Here is the quote... “I would rather play in the NIT than not play at all,” Patterson said. “But we all hope to be in the NCAA. That’s what we came here for. I wouldn’t say I would never want to play in the NIT because that would mean more games. But the NIT is not what you want.”

March 5, 200917 yr Sure does come off that way... You misread the statement. I did not interpret it to mean that at all. I read the statement to mean that Tywanna is upset that Patrick Patterson may not be able to play in the NCAA again this season. Remember, he was hurt last year and missed the NCAA.

Sure doesn't seem that way to me. Maybe you misread the statement... :idunno:

March 5, 200917 yr I have drawn two conclusions from reading this thread....I am confused :confused:and It's in a mess :ohbrother:..................... and just think, all was supposed to be better after OTS left, all problems along with everything else was his fault and U.K. finally had a new coach that would be the answer to all problems. Hmmmmm :sssh:
March 5, 200917 yr Did you actually READ the statement??? Im guessing no by your reaction... Yup. And I've also read what Maggard said and also been told by a few others close to the program that he's leaning towards leaving as of right now...

Hmmmmm :sssh: A lot of people would try to tell you that it's still Tubby's fault. After all, Billy G only has we'll call it 1.5 classes of recruits in there, and that Jodie Meeks (and occasionally Porter) are the only players in the upper class that Tubby left that are worth a dang. What needs to happen is that Billy G needs to be given enough time to prove that it is his (as in Billy G's) fault, which it is. Tubby and Billy G are two sides of a coin. One could coach X's and O's, but often struggled to recruit. One has theoretically been a good recruiter (which is to say that he's bringing in some nicely rated players), but can't coach his way out of a paper bag in-game. What UK needs, is both.
March 5, 200917 yr Sure doesn't seem that way to me. Maybe you misread the statement... :idunno: Why would she say "again" then? It doesn't make sense your way.
March 5, 200917 yr I mean, really, why would he come back? That's really been the question all along, even when people were saying he'd be back. He's projected as a top 20 pick, and at this rate, it seems he could do as much damage as help his stock. If he comes back next year and suffers another injury, it's a real problem. NBA teams don't want to see a guy that has been hurt every year of basketball in college. It just makes it easier that the team has looked like crap and it's generally not a fun situation to be in.
March 5, 200917 yr Sure doesn't seem that way to me. Maybe you misread the statement... :idunno: The quote that Larry Vaught had was that "he wouldn't play in the NCAA Tournament again". Emotions are running a little high. Would not be surprised either way if he went. Needs to show his midrange game, IMO. People are going overboard on everything. Im disappointed but there is a reason OTS was paid money and allowed to move on. It is not going to happen overnight. They should be in a better position...but they aren't. Irrationally wanting to get rid of the coach when he has essentially one year of having a few of his own players...is simply nuts.
