March 5, 200917 yr Sure doesn't seem that way to me. Maybe you misread the statement... :idunno: Yup. And I've also read what Maggard said and also been told by a few others close to the program that he's leaning towards leaving as of right now... Emotions running a little high right now...he knows he needs to come back and he wants to come back...things need to cool off. A win over UF would do wonders.
March 5, 200917 yr Sure doesn't seem that way to me. Maybe you misread the statement... :idunno: "She was visibily upset and had a few tears because she knew the loss meant her son was not going to get to play in the NCAA again." She knew her son was not going to get to play in the NCAA again. Because he was hurt last year, not because he's going pro. If he was going pro, wouldn't "ever" be the word of choice? FWIW, I think Patterson may jump ship; however, this statement does not provide an indicator one way or the other. People are simply reading way too much into this.
March 5, 200917 yr The quote that Larry Vaught had was that "he wouldn't play in the NCAA Tournament again". That's what I saw...
March 5, 200917 yr Emotions running a little high right now...he knows he needs to come back and he wants to come back...things need to cool off. A win over UF would do wonders. Not sure how much coming back will help honestly. Talked to 3 more NBA Scouts at the UC/WVU game and they think he could very well slide if he stays, and that if he can get a Top 20 grade it would be wise to go. I agree emotions are high right now, so we'll see how it plays out...

I agree emotions are high right now, so we'll see how it plays out... You've pretty much nailed the draft. Either you move up, or you slide down. If Patterson develops a mid-range game (he's shown flashes the past few games), then he'll jump up the draft board. If not, at 6'8'', he's a little undersized.
March 5, 200917 yr The quote that Larry Vaught had was that "he wouldn't play in the NCAA Tournament again". Emotions are running a little high. Would not be surprised either way if he went. Needs to show his midrange game, IMO. People are going overboard on everything. Im disappointed but there is a reason OTS was paid money and allowed to move on. It is not going to happen overnight. They should be in a better position...but they aren't. Irrationally wanting to get rid of the coach when he has essentially one year of having a few of his own players...is simply nuts. If I am one of the irrational ones you refer to, let me say this. Billy Clyde is not a good fit as the head basketball coach at the University of Kentucky. He was not a good fit the day he was hired, today, tomorrow, or in five years. I don't disagree with your thinking that every coach should be given the opportunity to bring in their own players. If you think that having good players is the only inadequacy that this man has for this job, you are being a bit irrational. At what point do the powers to be admit it is not a good fit or match and proceed in going in another direction? I say now, rather than later.

March 6, 200917 yr I have drawn two conclusions from reading this thread....I am confused :confused:and It's in a mess :ohbrother:..................... and just think, all was supposed to be better after OTS left, all problems along with everything else was his fault and U.K. finally had a new coach that would be the answer to all problems. Hmmmmm :sssh: I think we should give him a little time to clean up the jalopicas mess that OTS left us in, don't you?
March 6, 200917 yr I think we should give him a little time to clean up the jalopicas mess that OTS left us in, don't you? Heck at this point he has created a big enough mess of his own to clean up.

I overreacted a little last night. Athletically, this team is in good shape however basketball talent-wise this team lacks it in 2 very key positions. PG and a scoring wing man. Honestly even after last night, I'm going to have to say that BCG deserves 2 more years. A coaching change at this point, would be irrational it would seriously send this program into the Abyss. I know this might sound bad, but why not wait two more years, let BCG bringin some serious talent. Then if he still isn't producing, get rid of him. That's when UK should go after a very big name coach. I wouldn't settle for a Ford or Pelphery. He'd have to be a big name.

Ironically, the two positions in which BCG has had players transfer out that would/supposed to/could have filled in Jasper and Legion.
March 6, 200917 yr Ironically, the two positions in which BCG has had players transfer out that would/supposed to/could have filled in Jasper and Legion. If Jasper was playing 100% healthy with this team they'd be in much better shape. That being said, I expected a lot more from Liggins and he just isn't performing.

That being said, I expected a lot more from Liggins and he just isn't performing. :thumb::thumb: From an article that I read it seemed that Jasper wanted to redshirt last season and was not allowed. He wanted to let his knee heal and did not think that it was going to get a chance here.

At what point do the powers to be admit it is not a good fit or match and proceed in going in another direction? I say now, rather than later. You make some very good points here and I have defended BCG to a point in that imo he deserves time and a chance. I admit that I was like others and was just pretty mad and venting last night (still am). I must say however that imo that the time/leash for BCG is getting shorter with me. From watching the games this season imo he had better be able to recruit better than anyone in the country bc he is severly lacking in the X's an O's dept. along with his people skills are somewhere between 0 and a -100. As a U.K. fan, imo it is embarrrassing to hear him in an interview with anyone. Even with the hometown U.K. media he is bad. I was pleased with the announcement of BCG as coach, wasn't my first choice but I was pleased. I really hope that things get straightened out and BCG will right the ship and be here for a long time but I can honestly say that I just don't see that happening. From what I can tell Mike Casey may very well be right in that he is in way over his head with a program like U.K.. I just now am not sure BCG is the man for this job. As for now though BCG is still our coach and little doubt will be our coach for at least next season as well. I obviously am not going to agree with everything he does (or doesn't do) but he is our coach and I hope he will get things straightened out. Hopefully we will beat Florida om Saturday, get on a roll in the SEC tourney and see what happens. I personally believe that after last night U.K. has to win the SEC tournament to get in the Big Dance (and imo that is going to require winning 4 games in 4 days and not going to happen)but we will see.
