Next Coach at Walton?

Featured Replies

McNeil is an assistant varstiy coach. He has 3 sons in the program, 7th grade, 5th grade and 3rd grade.

I have no idea if McNeil would be a good coach or not but I think that having 3 boys coming up is a good reason not to want to hire him. Some don't seem to have much problem with their own kids on their teams but it can be a real problem.

So, when his oldest son is a freshman, should he be asked to resign?

I'm talking about the head coach position. I am just saying if it was my school's team and there are other good options I would prefer a head coach who will not have a son or two on the team for the next 12 years.

Whoever they choose, the coach better be able to back up his decisions because we all know what happened last year with the girls team.

What happened?

I would think they would want a teacher to be the head coach.

Why????

I don't see the logic. Are you saying that parents would be worried that he would play his own over theirs?????

Some schools require that head coaches are teachers if at all possible. Don't know if Walton has this policy or not. There are many reasons that it maybe difficult to coach your own kids at a varsity level. Many do it with no evident problems others do have problems at home or on the court. Frankly, I don't have a dog in this fight and really don't care who they hire. I was just expressing my opinion. That's all I have to say about that.

Can someone fill in the time periods for when Trame was head coach at Simon Kenton? Was he once head coach at Holy Cross as well? How successful were they under his guidance?

Trame's first season for SK was '92/'93, he came from St. Henry and at one time his St Henry squad held the national record for most threes made in one season. He took SK to the regional in '94, then they won the region in '95. In '96 SK lost to Lloyd in the 33rd semi's, and in '97 SK was the #1 seed in the 33rd but lost to St. Henry in the quarter finals. He left after that season.

Did the 7th graders win the state championship? Dont think so. Didnt even make final four did they?

What does that have to do with Walton hiring a new head coach? No - Walton's 7th grade team didn't win state nor did they make it to the final four. They realize that the season was a total failure because of it. Unfortunately all they did this year was go 31 -1 and ONLY make it to the round of 16 at 7th grade state. Oh and they were also, without a doubt, the best 7th grade team from Northern Kentucky.

I know nothing about WV's 7th grade or anyone else's for that matter. But if kyhoopsfan was trying to take a pot shot at that 7th grade team, all I can say is :jump::lol::ohbrother::idunno::ohbrother::eek:

Where is Nancy Ryan going? What is she doing now? She is the standard for athletic directors in the 8th Region and ALWAYS made trips to Walton enjoyable for me as an official in basketball and baseball.

She's retiring. Very nice Lady. Always helpful to us!! She'll be missed!!

What about McNeil???

:ohbrother::puke:

IMO, nobody will ever be good enough to coach there.
