IMO, Coach Wright would not be a good fit at Walton-Verona. He would be a big fish in a small pond. WV certainly has some talented classes coming up thru the elementary and middle schools but the total mass of talent isn't what Coach Wright is used to. If WV called Coach Wright I'm sure it was out of respect for him and his family.

 

Dan Trame, if he indeed does accept the coaching position, would be an excellent hire for WV. There are several people though, that are not pleased with how this entire situation has been handled. IMO, Dan Sullivan should have been the logical choice for the head coaching position but yet he was never approached. IMO, that is ridiculous!

 

Hopefully Coach Trame accepts the position soon and WV can get started on working toward the future.

Once again I agree, however, Dan tends to run at a high speed and doesn't seem to last very long about 3/4 successful years and then it hits the wall.

Best statement yet, totally agree, first class guy who loves the community, lives in the community and a proven winner. He knows the program and kids top to bottom. Not nearly as loud or as flashy as coach Trame but every bit as qualified if not more IMO.

Dan Sullivan would be a great selection.....but he's an asst. principal. Trame has only been at Walton 1 year. Walton needs someone who can take over that doesn't have ties to the community (parents). Trame's or someone outside of Walton needs to take over and make the necessary changes to that program without relationships (last names or parents). Lots of talent coming from the middle school and elementary levels.

Can someone fill in the time periods for when Trame was head coach at Simon Kenton? Was he once head coach at Holy Cross as well? How successful were they under his guidance?

Not that I'm aware of. His wife is an elementary teacher for Walton, I believe.

IMO, coaches with non varsity level basketball experience can be just as qualified as someone who has none. Coaching is just like any other profession. Those with the talent and passion can be better than those with experience. Ideally, a coach would have all 3 (talent, passion and experience).
