Next Coach at Walton?

Featured Replies

IMO, nobody will ever be good enough to coach there.

Why? What has Walton Verona EVER done? Seriously.

They really haven't had a contender since the middle 1980's.

That's what I mean. They have always been a good Class A school but I really wonder what happened with Bennett. Kyle was a former Bearcat and must have had good reason to leave.

Kyle stepped down to be the AD for Walton Verona. It would have been very difficult for him to do both.

Ok, that makes sense. Coaching is definitely very time consuming and I am assuming he has a family.

FWIW I think Dan Trame would be a great choice for that program.

Way to go. Nice job of throwing something out there with no supporting info. If you have factual information to support your opinion, then let's hear it.

:ylsuper: :thumb: And get in trouble on here.......... I don't think so.

WV's 89/90 squad was very good, I know they put a pretty good beatdown on us that season. That's the last WV team I can think of that was very good.

1980-81 season, Bob Eades was the coach they lost to eventual State Champ Simon Kenton in the old "blind draw" 33rd District. I think it was the first game of the districts and SK beat them in 1 or 2 OT's. I think they missed some FT's and lost. Burns, Anderson, Martin, Carpenter...good team. Also lost to Highlands in the 9th finals Eades son played then. But as you can see it has been a long time.:p

How about the 03-04 team? They were 22-6, won the 8th Region "All A" and lost in the All A State semi's to Hazard by 8 (Hazard went on to win the tournament). They also had the misfortune of drawing Scott Co. in the 1st round of the district and lost 92-82 (the game was closer than the winning margin). Scott Co. went on to lose in the semi's of the Sweet 16. This is by far the best team that Walton has had in a long time.

There are many AD's that are still head coaches of programs. Jon Jones at Gallatin, Dale Mueller at Highlands, Cory Highfield at Ludlow, Frank Ragland at Trimble and many more I'm sure.

Why would you hire a JV girls coach with the talent you have coming? I thought they might go after some coaches in the 8th region, like Duvall, Jones or Holland? Small schools can not afford to waste talent, they are some very talented 7th grade teams in the region, Walton and Henry battled this year, it was fun to watch

Do you seriously think that Duvall, Jones, or Holland would leave their schools to go to Walton? Duvall is from Owen County. Jones is from Gallatin County. And Holland has a pretty good thing going on at Henry County.

Actually, Jones is from Grant County. His wife, however, is from Gallatin County...which may be even more important! :D

Nice catch CincySportsFan. I totally forgot about that since he has been in Gallatin for so long.
